Has anyone played this since it re-opened after the remodel?

Live a few blocks away and haven't played it. I have gone to the practice green several times, and if it's like the other greens, the greens are very nice. I hate that they don't have a super twilight rate. I would probably play nine holes a lot, but it's too expensive.

I played in a charity event there last week and was very impressed with the course conditions. I didn't like that our group almost got hit by flying golf balls three times and one person in our group (not me) almost hit another group other than that it was a good experience.

They listened to me and have a super twilight rate now! Plan to play it many times but haven't yet.

Update - finally played it. It is a very improved course. Greens have a lot of undulation and roll nicely. Not a great course, but is now a very nice and fun course to play I could play often. Grill is also nice.

I played it this last week and have to say I was impressed by its condition. Muni's are usually the forgotten child, but this course was in magnificent shape. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in excellent shape. No range (2 cages), but an above average putting and chipping area. The layout is a bit easy, if I lived in the area, I'd play this all the time.

^IDK TBH: I have not played it. Only played 28 Texas courses to this point.

I will say it's every bit as fun as Brackenridge - maybe more so as Brackenridge's front 9 can be a bit back/forth - which seems to get a lot of kudos following its refurb.

Landa is very short 6,300 yards and has an ok layout. The Bandit is longer and has a more interesting layout. But I've never seen the Bandit with lush fairways and excellent greens like the current condition at Landa.

I played the bandit this morning and it was in primo condition. I’m playing landa on Thursday so I’ll get a true comparison

I play both the Bandit and Landa on a regular basis. While Landa is a much improved course, it's still not as good as the Bandit overall, but is much closer. For one, while the scorecard says it can stretch to 6200 yards, I've never seen the back tees on the "tips" on several holes, so the longest it will play is more like 6,000. That's fine for me because it's an old school walkable course, so I always walk it, while Bandit would be a very difficult walk so I always ride. Bandit has more interesting holes and a much wider variety of tees. A scratch player would tear Landa up but would be challenged at the Bandit.

 

Landa has a nice practice green with a sand trap but does not have a range. It does have four hitting nets, so if you wanted to hit a few balls to warm up you can do that (for free), but won't get to see the flight. The Bandit has a driving range, and they are in the middle of building a new 10,000 sf practice green with bunker(s), and a new short game area. If you're going to play Landa on a weekday morning, I'd check out their website and see if one of the many senior groups is playing that day. May be in for a slow day if so. And another league plays every Saturday at 10. Finally, I've had much better experiences with the people out at the Bandit.

 

I'm happy to have both courses available to me and you should enjoy both of them.

I'm chilly willy Bro...Lots of people ask about the Bandit and probably won't look in the Landa Park thread for info on it... There's a SA courses thread which will probably work for people looking for info on the Bandit...
