Eagle and Fabb - You guys are the best and put on a great tournament. It is my favorite golf weekend of the year. Eagle - sorry the DCGT boys let you down, but super props to Fabb and the WRXers for a resounding win. You guys have been working the plan for a few years now and as painful as losing was... I admit I was happy to see all the effort pay off.

 

As for the recap, I'll keep it short as Boogs and City have taken care of the majority of it. First, it was great playing with Boogs on Saturday and after the soul-crushing 35 ft. putt for birdie on #8 by dagoose....we settled in and had a good time of it on the back in alternate shot. Boogs had a sick bunker shot on #14 that took one skip and stopped 3 ft. from the cup which helped us get par and took the air out of the WRX sails for good.

 

On Sunday, I had City again for the singles in a "revenge" match from the last CC. No revenge taken as City played well and though neither one of us putted well, he made a couple of key putts at the right time and finally put me down 3&2. We both played bad on the same holes and good on the same holes for the most part. It was a grind mentally for me, not having my best stuff and then going 4 down after 8. Scratched out my only wins on 9 and 10, but then hit the worst putt in probably 2 years on #11 leading to a three-putt bogey for the halve....momentum gone....frustration HIGH. Truthfully, it probably wasn't as close as the 3&2 score shows. City played a solid round, and I put myself in bad positions off the tee nearly the entire day and was scrambling just to make pars. My only birdie was on #15 after a great 3h to 15ft just past the pin in the left rough. Eagle chip just missed on the high side and left me 3 ft. for bird...City hits a nice pitch to 15ft and pours in the dagger for birdie halve to keep me 3down and go dormie. Technically, I think the final was 4&2, since I missed my par putt on #16 and conceded at that point with City having 4-5ft for par. Just want to get it right... Congrats again, City!

 

I think I was about as disappointed as I've been on the golf course in a long time after having opportunities early and being unable to take advantage of them, and then having the putter completely let me down after coming in to the weekend putting very well. Positioning off the tee was probably the real problem and something that I've got to work out.

 

Greenville, SC....it is a nice town. You just had to be there:)

I had my own encounter with the rock wall on 11 yesterday. My ball got smothered by the wind, landed in the front fringe, and spun back inside the hazard line. It was inside one of the cinder blocks that make up the wall, all the way in the back corner, with about half the ball above the level of the block. I had to stand with my back to the hole and just chop at the ball. Somehow I got enough contact to send the ball squirting off the back right side of the green. I got a nice rock wall gash in my 9-iron to boot.
