This evening when I get home I can give you a comparison between the KBS Tour 105 and Project X 95 on TaylorMade RSi2. I used my Ernest Sports ES14 so I could compare both in two different driving range sessions. For me the clear winner was the Project X 95 in both stats from ES14 and feel. Also if you do go with the Project X 95, they are a discontinued shaft and becoming very hard to find. I had to search real hard to find it in the 36.5 length so I could have them installed in the R-series EF wedges.

Here you go. KBS Tour 105 Stiff vs. Project X 95 5.5 on the same Taylormade RSi2 heads. For both I just setup the Ernest ES14 and started hitting, just changing the club on the LM.

Great comparison.

I played the 95s in a couple sets of irons and really liked them. They did seem to balloon a bit on me when I really went after a ball and seemed to be taken by wind more. Good feel though.

I've had the KBS tours in a bunch of sets and is probably my favorite shaft. I liked the heavier weight of the KBS and they seemed to hold their line a bit better for me.

Thanks for the info!!! It's interesting that you say they are discontinued as Taylormade is offering them on their RSI 1 irons for a $35 per iron upcharge!
[/quote]

The Project X 95 shafts in the RSi1 and RSi2 were not available at retail. They have a .370 tip and the retail version has a .355 tip. Taylormade built me a set of the the RSi1 with the Project X 95 5.5 as part of attending the RSi Launch Event. After playing the RSI1, I determined they were too game improvement for me. I could not get used the hard feel. I bought a set or RSi2 and after playing them with KBS shaft, the feel was more like what I was wanting. I then got the numbers with KBS shafts, pulled the Project X 95's from the RSI1's and installed them in the RSi2's, and got the numbers. The Project X shafts load with my swing better and feel better to me. I was coming from the Nike VRS Forged with Project X PXi 5.5, so I was not surprised that I like the 95's better than the KBS.

But if you are wanting the RSi 1 or 2 with the Project X 95, get them while you can. The shaft is not part of the 2015 custom shaft list, so it is probably they will offer them until they are gone.

TM_Hoyer - How would you compare the pxi's to the px flighted. I had flighted 5.5's (not the 95 weight) in my S56's and loved them. I now have 5.5 pxi's in my 714 ap2's and wondering if I should have pulled my flighted shafts in put them in the ap2's? I have never played the 95 flighted and just wondering how they compare. Thanks

Both are between a regular and stiff shaft but I have found the PX 95 5.5 feel closer to a stiff shaft where the PXi 5.5 feel closer to a regular shaft. The PXi has a smoother feel to it. The short irons with the PX 95 fly higher than the PXi but about the same in the mid-irons. The distance gaps are greater with the PX 95. I am hitting the short irons about 0 - 5 yards further with the PX 95 but 10 yards further with my 5 iron. Right now, the PX 95 are a better fit for me. I am releasing my swings better, creating more club head speed today vs. year ago. So the slightly greater stiffness of the PX 95 is working better for me.

I've been looking for this type of information Tim! Our speeds are similar; I've had a taylormade 2014 MC 7 iron with a px95 flighted 5.5 that I pullout every now and then.......I'm looking for a set right now .....good to see someone has had success with them and this confirms my thoughts! I especially loved your take on pxi 5.5 vs px95 5.5 ......always felt that way but quite a few guys have played well with 5.5's.....confusing

Do you play yours at standard length or considered playing them over length?

Oh and how is the flight on the longer irons?

I play mine 1/4 in. long and 2 degrees upright. The longest iron I carry is a 5 iron and it has a mid ball flight. About the same as the PXi. And I have had not had a problem with getting the ball to hit the green and stop with either. If you are looking to get them, do not delay. They are discontinued and are becoming very difficult to find, especially the 36.5 (wedge) length.

Cool beans.....my connection at golfsmith MIGHT be able to get them at a discount. ....already priced down 29.97 right now so if I can get them 20, it would be awesome!

I can't compare them to KBS but I play the PX95 5.5 hard stepped once and they are excellent. Great feel and dispersion and nothing like the harshness of the the standard PX. Very disappointed they were discontinued.

Hardstepped 5.5.....what is your 7 iron carry? Do you play them over length? I just want to make sure that 5.5 is going to fit me in the long haul....hitting straight in 5.5 7 iron demo standard length about 150 in the air.

I never hit 5.0 with any of the Project X shafts. Both fitters that I have used over the past few years, after seeing my swing and looking at the launch monitor numbers, put in the 5.5.

I am 58 and two years ago I was using a senior shaft in my driver and regular shaft in everything else. My pro made a change to my swing so I am now driving through the ball with a better release. So you do not have to have a slower swing speed as you get older.

I have the kbs tour 120 stiff in one set and recently put px 6.0 flighted on another...

although these are not in the weights you want... I can say that px is better for me, feel and trajectory, they suddenly made my blades much more forgiving! I couldn't believe it.

fwiw, the old shafts of my blades were dgs300, night and day from px 6.0 flighted.
