Hello GolfWRXers!

 

For a long time I was huge lurker on this site and read many of the forums over the last few years. Finally, I gave in and made an account last September. I have been playing the beautiful game for about 20 years now, and have decided this is the year I want to play a lot and hopefully establish a single digit handicap.

 

Scratch or better is my goal for the next 6 years. I have a superb touch around and on the greens with my putter and wedges, and have some serious game with my irons. Improvement with my driving game is a must, but I believe I can do it. I did not come from a wealthy upbringing, and have probably played under 50 full rounds of 18 holes. I've gotten to the level I'm at right now by practicing a lot on my own time for 5 years using mirrors; and also by being a range rat and playing courses in my head. If you saw my swing, you would never guess how little time I've put into golf—probably way under 5000—over 20 years, but starting young is a huge advantage. I believe this game comes a lot more naturally to me, but I am ready to seriously work. Had money never been an issue, I have no doubt I would be close to scratch at this point.

 

While I wish to remain anonymous—at least for right now—I thought I would introduce myself to this forum.

Best of luck to you. You will know relatively quickly if you can get down to scratch or below. Most scratch golfers get down to mid/low single digits within the first two or three years of playing the game seriously (at least that's been my observation).

Update: I have been working a lot on my short game and iron game lately. I was struggling with my wedges for a bit, but I've got them dialed in now. I'm going to be getting fitted for a driver soon since I want to improve a lot with my woods this year. I'm very interested in the 915 line. Does anyone here have one?
