XR or XR Pro Driving Head. Worth it?

So I looked at the 2015 equipment results on WRX and had the same confirmation from Cool Clubs that was NO noticeable increase in distance, other than the shaft length.

At some point will replace my 2014 Big Bertha head, dialed out to fade 1.25.

The adjustment the back is needed or the club would be intolerable.

I feel that I am leaving 20 yards on the table with it.

I would be interested in other test results on the XR, assuming the same length shaft.

Leaving 20 yards out there might be a reason.

However, maybe go hit each heads into a monitor or range with the same shaft to see.

I hit the 2014 BB well. 48" overall length. If I concentrate 9 out 10 fairways. Yesterday, I hit everything, put some shape in most of it too and leave the ball paint where I wanted it on the club.

While the ball goes straight, I still feel the negative offset of the club and cannot initiate with my left arm or right hip alone.

I was trying to avoid testing due to my workouts and schedule, but may go there.

I can hit 7-9 degree front stance reliably on the course, but I prefer a JB Holmes style 12 degree, slightly behind the middle stance profile.
So vastly different than most people.
Hit slightly down, using swing speed and torque as my frame, about 213 lbs. total, gets in front of ball on the turn.

The aero on XR maybe worth 1 mph and the lighter head weight some too. Aero drag really does not come into play unless over 150 mph..

The XR Pro is 420cc. to my understanding. Where my other previous fast driver head (Carbon Fiber/Titanium Face) was at and the Nike Vapor is at... Also comes in lighter as well.

Equate 1mph to about 3 yds.

Speed is everything, achieving maximum centrifugal force at the ball is the key to hitting long.
Also if your shaft is cycling out of rhythm with impact then there in tail can lie your problem.
This can happen when you shift the weight in the head of the club.
The proper combination of shaft, head, and swing dynamics are what separates a store bought driver to a weapon of mass distance.

Speed and weight have a balance. If you can produce a good amount of torque stay with a heavier head to increase smash factor, if not go lighter for speed to compensate.

According to Callaway website the XR Pro head is 440 cc

I play the 9.0 XR head on a Fukijura 757 48" stiff shaft and I am thinking of either switching it out to the XR Pro head or the Big Bertha DD - which is 460cc. Supposedly the BBDD is the lowest spin driver head made by all the big OEM's and is just a monster driver. I like my XR but I think I can get my spin down a bit and gain some yardage with either of these heads.

In my case, I have played with a 48" overall length the entire time that I have played golf.
I find no difference in accuracy with a shorter shaft.
If anything a shorter shaft feels impotent.

I think the XR has its limitations.
Enough MOI to feed a whole family but not enough in the sweet spot.

I am building out another 46" proto type shaft this week to test it on my current bagged head.
Unlike the others, very easy to adjust.
If the results are good, I will still look around, but October is around the corner and perhaps XR2 Pro as well.

It is not lost on me that Furyk has not switched over and the Michelson is putting lead tape on the front of his 815 BB DBD as well (If he bags it at all).

I'm using it for course play. I find that the longer 48" clubs are easier for me to hit with driver. I first noticed it when I bought a Cobra Long Tom on line and was able to really kill it (well kill it for me...) nice and straight - so I just changed out shafts on the XR and never looked back. I actually just bought the Big Bertha 815 DBD and I'll see how that one compares to my stock XR. Comes in Wednesday.

I am going with the 815 BB DBD head as well with my proto type shaft that I am putting together.

I have done considerable study on the subject.
This is a good test video link as it shows two different golfers and against the other good drivers of 2015.
