Fill in the Blanks - Ocean City Advice Please

Planning a first time trip to OC. Looking for some help in filling in the blanks for 2 TBD courses. As far as the type of courses, there is no preference between parkland/links just looking for some great courses. Given the rates, I've eliminated Bayside and Lighthouse Sound as options, unless we get lucky with a Hot Deal. What courses do you suggest?

Friday: Early Afternoon Round at _________.

Pick a course in DE like Bear Trap Dunes on the way down?

Pick a course in OC like Glen Riddle Man O'War/Admiral, Eagles Landing, etc.

Saturday: ________ and Rum Pointe Twilight Round.

Looking for a nice course that has affordable morning rates.

(River Run, OCGC - Newport/Seaside or Ocean Pines?)

Sunday: Baywood Greens Twilight Round on the way back to NJ.

Bear Trap or Heritage shores on the way down Friday. Or Glen Riddle which puts you right next to OC...and has a Ruths Chris in the clubhouse for post round food/beer.
Saturday morning, go with OCGC or Eagles. July 11 OC is holding their member guest, so that won't be an option that weekend. But otherwise, it's less than 2 miles to Rum.

River Run is a nice course to fit in the morning of your second day. All of Gary Player's designs are unique and fairly short, so there are plenty of birdies to be had. It's a nice laid back track that won't wear you out. You will need to conserve your energy for Rum Pointe, it can be a monster when the wind is up

I highly recommend Bear Trap... I consider that my home course and it is one of my favorites anywhere... there are 3 nines so you can mix and match. Grizzly is my favorite of the three, I recommend making that your "Front 9".

As for option 2, River Run is a very fun course but it is definitely the roughest condition wise of everything on your list. if I was traveling on vacation and wanted a memorable experience River Run wouldn't be my first choice.

Eagles Landing is a treat, one of the most beautiful courses you will see and it is an Audubon sanctioned bald eagle refuge which is kind of cool.

Ocean Pines is a fantastic bang for your buck... a Robert Trent Jones and always in good shape.

Newport Bay at OCGC is also a good one. I am personally not a huge fan of Glen Riddle or Baywood- but that's just me.

Full disclosure, OCMD is my hometown I lived there my whole life and just moved away last fall to New England for work, so I know all the courses down there well.

One last tips though... River Run has a free driving range... not just for players it is actually just free and open to the public. If you get in town and need a tune up its a great place to have a beer and a cigar on the water and hack all the balls you can hit

I haven't played many courses in OC but can vouch for Bayside Resort and Lighthouse. Bayside is really nice with a great layout and you feel pretty secluded while on the actual course. I played last year and it seemed like the construction was picking up in the surrounding neighborhoods but the houses are not right on the course but instead maybe 300-500 yds away. You also get some really nice views of some vast marsh land that seems to go on forever.

The Links at Lighthouse Sound was also really nice but the front 9 is in a neighborhood, which I didn't expect. The layout was still nice and being on the water made it a worth while 9 to play. The back nine is mostly secluded being on a plot of land only accessible via the US's longest golf cart bridge (or boat) and extremely beautiful. It can get a bit pricey but I was able to save over $40 with GolfNow (we got the first tee time of the day).

This year I am playing one of these 2 courses again (tough decision) and will try out Rum Pointe as I hear nothing but good things about this course. I am excited; hope you are too!

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
