Westwoods golf club

Currently live very close to Murphy creek. Have been looking at houses at westwoods golf club. All things considered I want to make sure I still have access to good golf ;)

 

Never played here. Honest opinions?

 

Strange I've never played here, other courses I like:

Murphy creek

Arrowhead

Fossil trace

Gvr

Fox hollow

The ridge

Deer creek

Really just like golf in general...

They have three different 9's. I played there a lot about five years ago. Cottonwood and Sleeping Indian are better golf than the Silo 9. But all three are very playable. My only concern the last few years has been the maintenance issues. Last summer they seem to have lots of dead fairways and some problems on the greens.

But, there is lots of other good golf options withing 20 minutes.

The three courses at Westwoods are not too bad. As mentioned above, the Cottonwood and Sleeping Indian 9's are a bit better than the Silo, but all are interesting with unique holes, varied shots required, and elevation changes/interesting options. My issues with the course are the practice facilities. The putting green and chipping area near the clubhouse are barely passable, and they restrict access to the nicer putting/chipping green on the north end of the range. Many of the holes are a little tight off the tee and short enough that driver is not always in play. The staff also has a little bit of an attitude that puts me off.

Near Westwoods is Fossil Trace and Heritage at Westmoor, both of which are better courses. Indisan Tree is not too far as well, and Fox Hollow is just a few minutes further down the road. I've played Murphey Creek and it is not bad ... you will probably enjoy Westwoods.
