MG Golf Balls

Has anyone heard of the brand MG Golf? My dad showed me this company awhile back because they have very nice golf gloves and its always buy one get one free. So thats where i get my gloves too and can attest to the quality. But on their website they have some golf balls that are theyre own brand and they are called Tour C4 Urethane Golf Ball. I was wondering if anyone has ever hit these. The company claims that they are just as good as the ProV1 but for less than half the price at $20 a dozen. The website is also advertising the sale of the new Callaway Chrome Speed.

There have been a few threads about MG Golf here.

 

I've always been happy with MG, and only play the Chrome Speed right now. Ball had the combination of things I wanted, with more greenside spin than the ball I was playing. With my wedges I may need to back off the spin, as I am now scalping greens.

I've always been happy with MG, and only play the Chrome Speed right now. Ball had the combination of things I wanted, with more greenside spin than the ball I was playing. With my wedges I may need to back off the spin, as I am now scalping greens.

Been playing the MG C4 all summer and love it. Great distance off the box and great spin around the green. Also one of my favorite feeling balls to putt with. I guess it also help that it has my initials on it and that they are $19.99/doz. I just ordered 2 more dozen and 2 doz of the Callaway Speed that are for sale on the MG site. Can't wait to compare them side by side.

Do you know what the Speed balls are supposed to help with? Do they spin more or are they more for straighter drives?

It's a distance ball with [s]good[/s] great wedge spin. It is not a "low spin" low compression ball designed to tame a bad driver swing.

I thought I saw on another thread that someone confirmed with a callaway rep that they were supposed to be the replacement for the chrome + ball but because Mickelson and other callaway staffers were going to play the chrome soft ball they decided not to mass produce the callaway speed.

Ahhh i gotcha, so this is why it was released to MG Golf for them to sell. Made a buncha of balls and needed them sell so why not give a small business the rights.

I just got a dozen of the Callaway speed balls from MG last night. Will put one in play this afternoon and report back. I have always been a Titleist guy through and through, but the $20 price point is hard to ignore.

I've been wanting to pick up a dozen or two of the mg-c4's and see how they compare to the Snell MTB I currently game. I am also interested in the reviews of the Callaway Chrome Speed.

Don't be afraid to hit longer on the green. It will check just like the Pro V1 .

Yup. The MG Tour C4 ball is a really good performing ball. I converted over one of my playing partners by letting him try out a few last year. Great ball too because it doesn't get magically lost in the middle of the fairway anymore.

Saw MG's inventory on the Tour C4 ball is down to 900 dozen. Anyone know if MG has another ball in the works or if they will continue to make the Tour C4?

Compare that to the 5,800 dozen Callaway Chrome Speed balls in stock.

I hope they are making something else and not just switching to the Chrome Speed, because i gotta order some MG Tour, unless they are revamping which would make sense because the Tour C4 is over two years old.

Yeah, after you click "add to cart", there's an inventory ticker on the cart page. Down to 820 today.

The c4 isn't going anywhere. They do change it from time to time but it is basically the same ball it has been since they went away from the superdeep dimple design.

The chrome speed is a ball that when its gone it's gone. There will be no more made.

I wonder if they learned something from the Chrome Speeds they had in stock and maybe they'll incorporate some of that into there new MG C-4.
