I imagine many Bandon lovers are aware of this, but a new course south of Bandon near Port Orford is scheduled to start construction later this year. The court issues over land use have finally been worked out. The property looks incredible and I can't wait to add this course to the rotation on my winter trips to Bandon.

What I was told the last time I was there is this will be built specifically for the locals and not for outside play.

You're thinking of Bandon links which is a Mike Keiser (owner/creator of Bandon dunes) project that's also going up about 25 min south of Bandon. Right now it's planned to be 27 holes split into three nines. While it will not exclusively for the locals each day one of nines be reserved for the locals only. Plans tend to change though. Cabot links is to be designed by gil Hanse.

Pacific Gales is an 18 hole project unrelated to the Bandon dunes resort which will be designed by David Esler.
