GPS vs Range Finder

I own a Callaway uPro, great unit that has been dumped by Callaway, so I'm in the market as well. Having used the lasers of friends, the one thing about GPS I prefer most is knowing the front and back yardages. Many times with laser, I hit what I thought was the appropriate club, only to be a tad long, or just short and in a bunker. If the GPS tells me the back of the green is 140 and there's a bunker long, I know to take the club/swing that keeps me under 140.

Yea with a laser you need local knowledge to know how much green you have to work with in front of and behind the pin. Also to know for sure pin is tucked on left or right side of green. I know my home course well enough to do this but any other course a GPS can really complement the laser. At resort courses with GPS in the cart it's nice as they usually have pin positions programmed in. My uPro died a while back and thinking I need a replacement but still have the laser for approach shots.

Thinking the GPS is also nice for keeping "shots gained" stats where you need a distance for every shot even if it's not an approach shot.

I recently converted to a laser rangerfinder in leu of my garmin gps watch. The watch was super convenient and nice to know distances to front and back but I am much more pleased with the laser rangefinder. Advantages are knowing the exact distances, being able to shoot bunkers and hazards. Cons are with elevated greens and no pin sheet not being sure how much green to work with.

I recently switched over from a GPS watch to a laser. The GPS watch was nice that I could quickly glance at it and no the yardages front/middle/back of the green. I'm not able to do it as effectively with the laser, so now I have pay more attention to where the pin locations are at the start of the round. The laser takes a little bit longer, but it helps me since it slows down my urgency to hit and I'm able to settle into my shot.

I'm a GPS watch fan. Bushnell NeoX for 3 years now, used on at least 20 different courses, never had an issue. Great battery life, accurate, and so easy to use. Quick glance and hit. I use the yardage shown plus hole markings as a guide. Play with guys that use Range Finders and am right them on info. I'm a 7hcp , and the watch is perfect for me. Seamless and fast.

I have the Neo X as well and love it like you. I also added a laser to my bag this year because I'm a gadget guy and it came at a price that was too good to pass up. Laser is great for measuring targets you want to know about and layup areas, pins on huge greens etc. But last week I forgot my watch and had to use laser only. It only affirmed my belief that if I had to chose GPS v Laser, I'd take the GPS watch 9 times out of 10 simply for the senselessness and speed you mentioned.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
