Are Champion Pro Stinger spikes considered soft spikes?

Recommended Posts

I've been considering purchasing a set of Champion Pro Stinger spikes to test out for a few months now, but I'm concerned whether or not I'll be allowed on the course in them. While the spike does have a definite metal spike, it also has the spike characteristics of a soft spike. So, are these considered metal spikes or soft spikes? For those that use this spike, have you had any trouble with facilities not letting you on, or making you change shoes?

I'm taking a golf trip to Michigan in October, in which I'm expecting colder, wetter conditions and if I can get a little bit of extra traction with these I might buy them.

Any help/feedback is appreciated.

Maybe if you put little rubber tips on the metal parts then take them off as you walk on to the first tee you'll be ok. Otherwise the click clack will give you away

Glove: ML
Tees: 2 3/4
Towel: white
Repair tool: metal
Ball Marker: largest poker chip in the world
Iron headcovers: wait, what?

The feedback system is annoying

I've used them for years without any issue. Nobody has ever said a word about them, however I don't walk in the clubhouse with them on, nor do I parade around the cart path or parking lot click clacking around. If you are discrete about it, respect the fact that you cannot walk in the clubhouse with them, and of course do not drag your feet on the greens, chances are you won't get much resistance.

Great! I've thought that I could just change my shoes in the cart after I've checked in and am either a) at the range or b) on the practice green. Typically I don't go back into the clubhouse until I've finished my round and have already put my clubs away.

May have to give them a try to see if I like them.

Appreciate the feedback.

I'd say if you are respectful and discrete about it, nobody will notice or care.

How about the groups playing behind the golfer? Wouldn't they care?

Exactly. So many Tour pros use metal spikes, Tiger, Phil, etc.....and if it doesnt bother the best players in the world why would it affect Joe Avg. I'm convinced courses frown on them strictly for the damage to carpet and wood floors in clubhouses.
