Rife Antigua

Has anyone tried this putter

I work at a Golftown in Calgary and I saw the new Rife Antigua Putter yesterday while I was working but never got a chance to try it. I was curious if anyone's tried it and if they have, what did you think?

I don't know what others think about it, but I got mine 2 days ago. The thing is like cheating from outside 10 feet. When struck purely, it feels great, and when struck off-line, it feel a little "clickier", and yet it still puts a great roll on the ball.

I've rolled PMhacker's a few times and it's defnitely got a good roll to it. BUT..I still like my Cayman more. :rofl:

Well, it sits at address exactly like an SC Newport Mid Slant, but that's where the similarities end. The Antigua puts a nice smooth roll on the face and the head feels a lot softer on impact than the Mid Slant. I found that it was easier to get a smoother stroke and impart better contact with the ball. Maybe it has to do do with the heavier head weight and the grooves. All I know is that I had to get used to it for a couple of rounds because I was having problems blowing the ball well past the hole. I have to agree with Montrove that it does feels "clickier" on off-center hit and it really feels like you're cheating from outside of 10 feet. I've never rolled in so many 15-22 footers consecutively in a round with any other putter. IMHO....this baby really out performs the SC Mid Slant...don't believe me? Try it for a few rounds and you're gonna be pleasantly surprised. Even the pricing is on this is pretty "shaka" (hawaiian slang for the term "really good")

I have a Martinique. I love the look, but I just can't get used to the feel. It's so soft it's almost dead. Just a preference thing...

I have a Mid400, but the bottom line is, find the right offset for you in this putter series and you will roll putts like you've never rolled them before. I'll say it again, I try and practice with my scotty and I can HERE the ball hissing on the ground. Once you get used to the smoother rollout and adjust to a shorter stroke, you become more accurate due to the tighter stroke, and the ball rolls out cleaner to the hole. Especially on the "normal" conditions we all putt on a daily basis.

 

Also, bpratt... want to get rid of the dead feel?? yank that winn grip off there and put an iomic putter grip or a gripmaster (right Pitbull!) on that baby, and it will probably never come out of your bag.

I already did rip off the Winn grip. Replaced it with a Baby T. Still feels like it has a rubber insert to me. (The thing is, I like the look and the roll of the ball so much I'm still trying to make it work.)

If it's anything like the Martinique you are in for a treat. Great balance, feel and roll. Throw an Iomic on it and enjoy.
