UST V2 65 S: Swing Speed 107. Will it work?

Can't find a V2 65 S to demo. Will it handle a 105-107 mph driver swing speed?

It will handle it no problem.

I'd tip it 1/2 inch. IMO that shaft plays slighly soft to flex.

i'd have to agree with enduro. it's the shaft i have in my ft3 and am looking to switch it out in the near future. my swing speed ranges from 105-110.

Agreed on the stiffness. If it is a not in a borethrough? Tip it. Either that or leave enough to tip it later on.

 

I had one briefly in the Superquad and it was softer than the stock Reax shaft. I couldn't control it for anything.

I ordered the 65gr V2 because I found the stock 75gr V2 to be not as responsive as I hoped, felt a bit dead. The stock VS Proto 65required alot of work to turn it over, and the stock YS6+ felt spongy and soft. BTW all S flex. I can still cancel the 65 V2.

 

Based on those impressions, and the lack of funds to do endless experimenting, should I go with the Aldila VS Proto, or is there another shaft I should go after? Thanks.

Where are you based ??

 

I have a 105mph swing speed measured by vector pro, and live in the UK which is completely different atmospheric scenario to most of the US. I already knew a Ping G5 with Prolaunch Blue 65S shaft worked for me from the vector session

 

I waited for the new 907D2 to arrive at my range - tried 9' with the UST V2 stiff shaft - boy its stiff, way way too stiff for me. Its already a stiff tip, low torque (2.0-2.2 ?) shaft, but when clamped in the through bore and hosel collar of the D" (total length approaching 3inches of clamping) it becomes very stiff. I've now bought a D2 with Aldila VS Proto 65 stiff shaft - get great launch angle , boring flight and little sideways deviation.

 

The pro at the range, with swing speed of 125mph can't use the V2 stiff in anything with a thru bore either.

Perhaps the V2 65 will indeed be stiff enough, if the borethrough makes that much difference.

 

You found that the VS Proto 65 plays "softer" than the V2 75, interesting.

 

I am playing the V2 75s in my 3 and 5 woods, 906f2s, which are borethrough, and they will hook it for me if I crank them a bit too quickly.

i am at 104-105 and play the 75 v2 in stiff bore thru and its perfect!

my ss is 112 and i could not get a v2 75 stiff to go anything but right in the d2, tried the v2 75 regular and have been bombing it. i love it because i dont need to work hard to hit it high and straight. how anyone can play an x flex v2 in a bore through that doesnt have the ss of a pro is beyond me

waters boy, I suppose a 65 stiff and 75 reg would have some overlapping characteristics. Anyone having more knowledge of how different weights/flexes can overlap?

I tried the stock V2 stiff in the D2 and also hit it to the right (in a 9' head) - i tried a regular in a 10.5 head and hit it too high for my liking but at least in the intended direction - a little too inconsistent with fade/draw for my liking tho.

 

The VS Proto suits me great in the D2 - i can work the ball when i like. The thinner shaft allows a bit more release at impact IMO too.

 

Its interesting that the VS Proto is supposed to be high launching shaft, and yet in the 10.5 loft i get a nice flight - the weight distribution of Titleist heads is more conducive to a boring flight than most competitors remember.

 

 

I'd seek out a VS Proto 65 S demo if i were you - most stockists will have the stock weight (75g) V2 and VS Proto. I've not tried the 65g V2 - it might work fine for you, but try the VS Proto first to see if you like the lighter weight shaft.

to be honest i cant feel the difference in weight between my old nv 65 and the v2 75, although the v2 being half an inch shorter may contribute, went to the range today and hit the v2 even better again, im sold on it at the moment. hitting it a bit higher and so much straighter than my old nv stiff
