Garmin G10

Returned my G10. Liked it but it was just too inaccurate. Too many times it was 10 yards off the sprinkler head I was standing beside (took time to see if it would adjust). Coming from a Skycaddie SGX which was very good for distances I couldn't handle the discrepancies. I don't need exact yardages but this was too much. It made me doubt myself and that's not good. Got the Touch and I know that the yardages are close enough.

Hmm interesting, mine is consistently +/-2 from my friends bushnell rangefinder, which is prob just due to the pins placement. Consistently within 4-5yrds from the teebox yardage, and tested it yestrday after reading your post, standinf at the 100yrd marker I had 99yrd. So not sure how its that innacurate for you? Anyone else having this issue?

If mine was +/- 2 it would definitely still be in the bag. I only played 2 rounds with it on my home course but some holes were off and others were OK. My 2 buddies have Garmins, one a G6 and the other a older model (G3?). We all stood at the same location and there was 8 yards difference between the 3 ( and no 2 within 3 yards) which I thought was strange. The G3 seems to be pretty good and the holes that are off he has learnt to adjust, on hole 12 he adds 5 yards because it is always out by that much on that hole.

I do like my Garmin Forerunner :wave:

I say definite yea in terms of ease, style, functionality. Sounds like there may be a few issues with yardages, but I'm assuming that's true with any GPS yardage finder? Sounds like it may need a cross reference with a range finder....

I picked mine up open box from a closing GS for dirt cheap. Compared to other units and my phone this thing is super fast and very accurate. Picked up both my local courses straight away, auto advance worked perfect. I had a NEO ghost over the summer that was returned due to poor battery life and sluggishness. I also have a Bushnell scope but actually prefer using the G10. The big thing with these GPS units is keeping the firmware and maps current using the Garmin Express Software. If you're technically challenged stick to a scope.
