Best driver on the market?

Hum.. that's a very personal question.. but here's my $0.02.

 

My gamer is the R5 TP/Diamana 83 stiff.  It's a solid driver.  LONG.  I've hit the longest drives of my life with this club, and it's firmly planted in the bag.

 

Then there's the Nike Ignite 460.  Great stick.  I thought it was extremely forgiving and produced a nice penetrating ballflight.  Very underrated club.  It's also available with the Diamana for a slight upcharge.

 

The Ping G5 is a great stick as well.  I don't like that it comes standard at 45.75".  It was way too long for me to control, and I didn't want to grip down an 1".

 

For an older driver, nothing beats the R510TP.  Man, that's one SOLID club.  With the right shaft, it's tough to beat.  BEST feel of any club.  I just like the removable weights and the 450cc of the R5 TP.

 

For the Titleist drivers, the 905T (IMHGO) is much easier to hit than the 983K.  But there's a 460cc 905 on the horizon as well.  I hit the 905T with a YS-6 and a NV 65.  Man, the YS-6 was easy, long and very forgiving.

 

As far as Callaway goes, I would take the 454 every single day of the week and on Tuesday over the FT-3.  I've hit some great drives with the 454, and the sound/feel is much better.  But that's just me.

 

Also, don't overlook the Adams 460d.  Man, that's a super easy driver to hit, and long too.

Couldn't have said it better myself! An aside in regards to the Callaway 454... try the Fuji 652 in it. I found that to be the best combination if you're after a mid to low ball flight with some decent swing speed.

I think i am probebly set on the Titleist 905T or one of the R7's (Original Quad or Quad HT). These are the only two current production driver's that i have not owned or played. Which one of these would you all suggest. Im looking for a forgiving and workable driver. That is why i want to stay around the 400 cc range. And also which of these is longer for those of you that have hit both.

I gotta cast my vote for the 580xd and the r5. Two of the most reliable drivers out there and not the big 460 cc heads either.

Today i droped m y R580XD off at Pro Golf to be shipped off, it had a busted face. They are supposebly going to ship me a new R5. I just hope it is as solid as the XD. Has any had expirence with TM's customer service, i just wonder if they will send me a R5 with the same Grafalloy Blue X that i had in the XD or will i get the stock junk.

I'm hitting the G2 this year after trying it out and it replaced my K with an NV in it. The G2 has the Fuji 553 and when its hit on the screws it goes seemingly forever. The K is a really nice driver but I felt it lost on distance for off centre hits but still a great driver. Actually couldn t let it go so its still in my closet waiting for the day when I get tired of the G2

Funny though I still love this driver which is why I haven t even tried to sell it. If nothing else its a great back up driver

TM R5. All versions. One of the best right now for the money. Personally, I can't see paying so much more for the TP version. But thats my opinion.

According to my Launch Monitor, the smash factor I get on the:

 

Titleist 983K is pretty damn LONG. That thing is super HOT. On perfectly struck shots, it gets 1.51 smash factor with PROV1's.

 

I average about 265 off the Tee, but with this thing, damn its a good 10 yards longer.

 

And thats alot. That thing is hard to beat

Wilson fat shaft

TM R5

TM 540 .86 COR

TM 580

Cleveland Launcher 460

Titleist 983k

 

Of all those, the Titleist is in another class. Its teaching the class, actually.

 

I got a new FT3 Tour with NV shaft on the way, I will test that soon.

I've played a few this year, including the Cleveland, the Cally 454, and finally the Ping G2.

My vote is for the G2. Long, accurate, reliable. Aldila NV-65 stiff. Love it!

Tourstage X-Drive 405, Not too many people have hit this, but everyone that has, had to get one right away! With out a doubt the best driver out there. Perfect pair with the GD Tour-AD series also!

Based on my first 18 holes it just may be the Bridgestone J33R 460. Have a 9.5* shafted w/an NV 65R at 45". Long and hits the ground hot. Excellent balance between workability and forgiveness. Will see if the magic is still there tomorrow.
