I agree. To me, X100 seem stiffer because of the stiffer tip. The Rifles are very smooth, even at 6.5. Can't go wrong with either of those shafts.

They are different feeling/profile shafts. If you have a quick transition and like the feel of the short irons in the Rifle 6.5, I would stay with them. You will find the x100 to have, comparatively, a softer butt and a stiffer tip than what you are using. Because of the difference in bend profile, most people gravitate to one or the other if they have tried both. I have a soft transition, an even load, and a late release. I am for DG all the way...

how can you tell if your irons are too stiff? go one flex down and see if you gain distance with out giving up control. If you don't care about distance get as strong as you want.

Generally the old saying is play the softest shaft that you can control.

Now, about your rifle x100 delema.

I have a set of clubs with x100 soft stepped 2 times, and they are still firmer than the rifle 6.5 I like both shafts, but they are way different. I am not going to bash one or the other, but with the x100 your ball flight will lower and if you are not a good ball striker you will hurt yourself with this shaft. It is rough and tough compared to the rifles, but that is the idea, it is a tip stiff shaft that allows no room for error in digging or thinning. Getting the ball flight down, for some people this is good, but most people who think they need to lower their ball flight really don't need to, and they loose distance

Todays ball doesn't balloon like the wound balls did. yes if you are hitting moon balls you can loose distance, but 90% of the people I hear say they need to "get their ball flight down" really don't or sometimes they are holding their weight back too long.

i think i am going to stick with the 6.5 at least in my 5-pw. i think i lose yardage in 3 and 4 iron. my pw is 130, 9 iron 145, 8 iron 155, 7 iron, 170 6 iron 180 5 iron 193 but 4 iron is o ly 198 and 3 iron 205. so i think i should get at least 6.0 in those clubs. any thoughts?

also what about wedges, should i change my wedge shafts to rifle or keep at ttdg
