Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks - Anyone play lately?

Will be in the area next week and thought I give it a try. Played RSR a bunch of times but not staying at a resort.

I played it 2 years ago almost to the day. It was incredible. If you wait to make a tee time you can usually find one for ~$50 on golfnow. Got a gift card for xmas so i'm planning on going up soon to play it again.

I played Raven in mid March, and it was in excellent condition. However, some SOB stole my Garmin watch right out of my cart. Can you imagine?

The Raven is far better than the Keystone courses.

Sorry I just read you wanted reasons.

It's a better layout and plays like true golf IMO. Although I like the River course at Keystone.

I think it's usually in better condition. It's a more aesthetic course.

Lots of wildlife. Has an Eagles nest on one of the holes. Atleast it did two seasons ago.

Tom Lehman design that plays like a private course that is public.

Decided to stay at a resort and played RSR. Can't say enough about these courses. Conditions were almost perfect. Greens were rolling smooth and running around 11 but with the slope to the valley they were like glass. Next on the list are the Cordillera courses so not sure when I'll get to play Raven.

Also played Green Valley Ranch on the way back to the airport. Forgiving fairways and fun rolling terrain. Good to play a couple times to know your spots for forced carries. Conditions were really nice. Greens rolled half as fast compared to RSR but rolled nicely.

RSR is great.

What course are you playing at Cordi? Summit then mountain then valley would be my order.

Played it earlier this week. Not really impressed. Slow greens and even slower pace of play, which I was told was normal. Much better options available.

Played this on Friday afternoon with my brother-in-law. Course condition wasn't bad at all. Greens were very firm and were a good pace. There were a couple holes that had some issues (#7 had some odd GUR spots in the fairway and #15 had some weird washout in the bunker) but for the most part the course was in good shape.

I will agree that pace of play was slow, although we got paired with a couple of poor players sharing a bag. It took us 4 1/2 hours, which I have to imagine is fairly normal for the golf course. Lots of steep elevation changes, shots where you can't see the surface of the green, and lengthy drives between holes. Overall, for my first round on a true mountain course, it was a lot of fun. Not sure I'd go back though. I'm told there are better options in the Breckenridge/Vail area.

Just got back from a trip, we stayed in Dillon played Breck, Vail, Mount Mammoth (Dirt track but highly recommened), Keystone- Ranch and River, Copper Mountain, and Raven on the last day all great courses but Raven was by far my favorite.
