Newbie player, driver shaft change

Hi all, iv been trying to play for just under a year, getting out on course a lot during the last 4 months.

Iv got a reg shaft ping g30 sf tech as my miss was a massive slice, iv now sorted this by changing club path and now hitting draws, my bad shot is now either a high hook or a snap hook. As my confidence with the driver has grown I'm hitting it harder and the high hooks get more severe. I haven't been to a launch monitor yet but my longest drive is 280 yards (270ish carry) and il average 265/270 if they have not strayed left. The roll out is quite poor as they go very high. Ideally I want to lower trajectory and have a reliable soft draw. Also the driver feels very floaty on the down swing which can be confidence knocking

 

Also considering getting rid of the sf tec and buying a neutral driver

 

Should i look into getting a stiffer shaft? As I don't want to back off the swing speed to try and keep it straight thus losing yardage

I recommend you get into a golf store that has a launch monitor and a multitude of shaft choices. Dont go with what another person might be using because your swing will be different from theirs. Try different one's to see which gets you the best results.

If you can't get to store or a fitter, try a stiffer and/or a heavier shaft. Also, go to Ping.com and check out the other shafts that they offer for this driver such as the Tour 65 or Tour 80 shafts. Also, I'm sure that there are many threads in the Equipment or Tour Pre-release forums which discuss this very issue.

If you've fixed your swing, I'd look into neutral drivers. It's hard to control a draw with a draw bias driver.
