Stonehedge South: Probably the most fun layout. Tighter off the tee than the others, but still playable for all skill levels

Stonehedge North: Pretty wide-open, not much trouble on the course. Not sure how many players you have but the North is generally a great option for bigger groups.

GLV East: Least favorite course. Short and only 2 par 5s.

GLV West: Is in great shape this year. The back 9 is playing tougher than normal due to the thick rough. Front 9 is relatively boring though.

Bedford Valley: Giant greens and overall great course.

In Summary...I'd go for Stonehedge South and Bedford Valley. If you don't feel like driving to Bedford then just play both Stonehedge courses (they also tend not to be as packed as the others on the weekend).

Also, eat at Kitchen House in Richland. It's right down the road from GLV and the food is excellent. The Brussels Sprouts will make you want to come back more than the golf courses.

It will just be a foursome. Which course has the six par 5's and six par 3's?

That is the Stonehedge North.

I like the South the most and then Bedford. I stay away from the East and West and play the North occasionally.

If you are staying at the Casino, I would also suggest The Medalist. It is closer and nicer than any of the GLV courses.

Also does anyone have any comments on Angel's Crossing vs the GLV courses?

I like Angel's Crossing much more than any of the GL courses. AC could use a bit more bunkering, but it's a solid course. I've played each of the GL courses 6 to 8 times, and I'm growing tired of them. SH South is probably the prettiest of the bunch, but it's tight. If you work the ball off the tee, you're going to clip trees. Definitely a straight ball hitters course.

Also does anyone have any comments on Angel's Crossing vs the GLV courses?

Somewhat apples and oranges. The advantage to GLV is 5 decent courses all close together, while Angel's is just one course and nowhere near anything.

In terms of playability, it really all depends on the conditions of the green at Angels...I've seen them at both ends of the spectrum. Probably depends on who currently owns the course. Nothing worse than 60ft shaggy greens.

Just my 2c, I know there are others here that are huge fans of Angel's, but if it were me I'd go with Knickerbocker's advice and go the Medalist in Marshall instead, if you're looking for more than just GLV.

If you're only playing two I would go for both Stonehedge courses. Bedford is okay, the front 9 is rather ho hum and there's some goofy par 5's on the course. The East/West courses both have their quirks and can be frustrating if you've never played them before. West has a couple holes on a bog which are zero fun to play because you can't get any type of footing in the fairways, the east course is more or less all target golf. I was just out there last week and both east/west greens are super slow and rolling pretty poorly right now. I honestly would be okay never playing east or west again but I love going up there with the group I go with so I still put up with them. I feel like both courses could benefit from tree removal to give you some more options on the holes but more or less once you play these two a few times you'll realize on most holes there's really only 1 way to play the hole and it generally involves some form of a layup and a second shot.

The greens on the Stonehedge courses are rolling great and pretty fast. North is a fun course to play and has a lot of opportunity to score with 6 par 5's and it has some really cool par 3's. The South course like said is tight but scenic and worth playing IMO (it's my favorite of the group).

You have written my post for me. Thanks. Completely agree on every point on all 5 courses. To me, Bedford is overrated and I could skip it if we go back. Some of the guys don't mind West, but the bog holes really annoy me. I like East a bit better but I haven't been there in a couple of years and if it's overgrown more, it would be less playable.

My guys have always had a lot of fun on South and North. South because it's a cool course and North because you can score there.

Angels is in great condition this year. That and the Medalist are both better than anything in the GLV family - the South would be the closest.

I'm only driving from an hour away. Now I'm thinking about just playing AC then driving to the casino where we are staying and playing the medalist the following day. I may just skip all the glv courses all together.

Good plan. Check online for Medalist rates - you can usually find deals on their website.

Ok looks like GLV is gonna be out. In gonna play the Medalist. What course do you guys recommend between Angels Crossing and The Grande (jackson)? Thanks.

Pretty close for me, but I would lean towards The Grande
