Help me pick a rangefinder please?

Recommended Posts

So I am looking at a new rangefinder.

Don't wanna break the bank so the ones I've been looking at are

1) Nikon Coolshot 20 and or 40 299-329$ CDN

2) Bushnell Medallist or Bushnell Tour V3 299-369$ CDN

3) Golfbuddy LR3 (I know it's an older model but SC has them still new) they are 299$ but can get them for 199-249$ all the time)

4) Precision pro nexus 250$ cdn

So I definetly wanna keep it cheaper. But don't mind spending more for quality and or features. I'd like it at minimum to be able to pickup flags that are 250yards away (300+ is preferable just due to wear as it breaks down)

I believe all can hit a flag at 250 easily. can any do 300? All have flag priority targeting. I think the Golfbuddy has a normal and scan mode? Do the others have additional modes? Are those modes needed to pickup distances to a dogleg bunker river etc?

Any other models that you'd recommend. (Remember CDN dollars)

I've heard to look at hunting models that offer a target first priority option (same as pin first) is this a good idea and or any recommendations? (I have a bass pro shop near me)

The Nexus Laser Rangefinder shoots distances up to 400yards away. Plus the dual scanning technology allows you to lock in on the target in our target lock mode or scan the area for different distances quickly in the scanning mode. It gives accurate distances to +/- 1 yard and has 6x magnification.

Plus right now we are offering free shipping and a 30 day money back guarantee. Find out more here.

I ended up getting a Golfbuddy LR3 as it was only 199$ CDN (150& USD)

My next choice woulda likely been the Nexus Precision pro but I wasnt able to see it in person at the store.

The Nikon was too small for me

Bushnell was nice but too expensive

I must say having 2 rounds with my Golfbuddy LR3 its very easy to use. Very Clear Optics. 3 Modes absolutely amazing. Was fantastic for the price (basically 60$ cheaper then anything else)

Bushnell or leuopold.......some of cheaper ones aren't that accurate, they will last forever so not like you have to buy another anytime soon.......nikon isn't accurate or one that my buddy has isnt, hard to lock on target and shoots random numbers......I had 2 bushnell and my buddy has leuopold and it works great......

I got the GB LR3 for 100$ cheaper then anything else listed (199$ CDn about 150$ usd new)

All of them are accurate as can be per MGS and various other reviews. The differences come in features optics etc speed

My Lr3 locks on quick and fast. Hit pins easily 250-300 yards away and have no doubt I hit it in pin mode.

Scan mode is amazing for quickly reading an entire green. Front back pin bunkers etc.

As for accuracy. I had the ability to test this side by side with a Bushnell V3 and a Nikon Coolshot 20 and a Leopold GX something.

Every single one gave me the same yardage +/-1 yard. The differences were literally personal preference and thighs like speed etc.

The Nikon was great looking optics very clear picture. but definetly the slowest to get a reading and it's way too small for my liking. The small size and light weight is both a plus and minus in my book. Makes it light and easy to carry but if you got big mitts it can be a problem to use. Also the lightweight and size means if you don't have a steady hand it won't help.

The Bushnell is great. Fast easy to use. Biggest and heaviest. Worst magnification but excellent product

The Leopold is fantastic. Takes the best from everything almost. Thing is you pay for it... Unless money is no issue I don't see it being worth it.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
