Bag Boy Revolver shaft locks loose?

I just got in a new Bag Boy Revolver LTD bag today. I just got to putting the clubs in and where the shafts lock into the bag are pretty loose for several clubs. One of them barely holds the club on. Simply shaking the bag will knock it out. How tight are they for the rest of you? I'm thinking this one just is defective as they are all different per hole and none are really tight.

They usually are pretty tight. But then again mine is the older revolver bag.

Thanks for the info. It seems like after a day they got a little better, but the clubs still swing in the lock. Do yours rotate or stay in the same spot?

How tight the shafts hold into those notches depends on how fat the shafts are. Some shafts are quite thin down at the hosel and won't hold tight. It's not the bags fault.

 

Also realize that there is a locking mechanism that holds the grips firm. You need to guide the club down the tube and get it into the right position at the bottom, and then you press the club down into the bag and it will drop an extra 1/2" and the grip lock will engage.

I've been using a Revolver for several years now and like it. It's a heavy beast but that doesn't bother me too much and it fits nicely on my Clicgear. One thing I like is that the top is flat, not sloped to the front, so it works well on a trolley which tilts the bag backwards. The shaft notches and grip lock feature keeps the clubs from banging into one another nicely, but I'm not sure it would work as well in a cart where the clubs are shook much harder.

 

All is not perfect though; the soft top, with the notches for the shafts, delaminated after a year or so but Bagboy sent me a replacement. The top is good on the second unit, but the nylon material down in the bag which guides the shafts down the tubes tore after a while. I wound up removing the carousel mechanism from the bag and reattaching the nylon material which came loose. So far so well and the bag keeps on truckin.

Remember when you could go in a sports store and they had a bin full of hard plastic golf club sleeves? I've never understood why with a product like the Bag Boy Revolver, they couldn't have those individual sleeves attached under the top holes which would truly be full length dividers. Kind of like looking in a revolver pistol chamber. No cloth or nylon to tear.

Each hole is a separate passage. It's just that the passage is defined by the nylon cloth, not a plastic tube. I agree that a tube would be better, but it would be heavier.

I agree, it's not like cart bags need to be designed to save weight. They are cart bags because we are putting them on a cart. The weight of the bag is seriously the last thing I consider when buying a cart bag.

I've never found this to be the case. I have put at least a dozen different sets of irons through my bag since I"ve owned it (yes, I'm a ho).

I had the earlier Bag Boy bag, had the grip lok and a petal like top to anchor the clubs, worked great until the petals, in the top, broke out. After so many uses, the grip ends would be slightly roughed up, especially with Winn grips. Loved the quietness of the bag but the tops just wouldn't last, tried the Clip Lok but it wouldn't always stay clipped.

Mine has an issuse.

The ratcheting mechanism no longer functions,

My revolver foam top has come apart, and Bagboy says they don’t sell a replacement.  That’s terrible, since they still sell revolver bags!
