Hogan IPT specs

Hello folks! I picked up some Hogan IPTs (1963 model) 2-E and was wondering if anyone new the lofts or where to find that info? I'm not having much luck. Hoping to make them a nice winter project to refurbish and reshaft. I can grab serial numbers off of them to if that info helps with anything. Thanks!

i would not re-shaft these if not needed. first they have pins tru the hosel and can be very difficult to work with . second the hogan shaft /head was a fine matched combo and why mess with success. i have a set of beautiful apex 2 irons that some one reshafted with modern shafts and high quality at that. they play terrible!

Thanks for the Intel Super. New grips and paint it is. I'll take them out a few more rounds and get a good feel for the shafts.

thats a good idea -see how you get on with the hogan shafts. most people find then to work quite well even by todays standards for casual play

I really like the apex shafts, not sure what are in my IPTs (if I recall, those are Slazenger-made irons). The shafts are unmarked, but feel really nice when swung.

IPT's aren't Slazengers by default...they must have the Slazenger stamp to be the European version...I have a set, made by the Ben Hogan Company, Fort Worth, TX, probably forged by Hoffman and assembled on Pafford Street.

I really like the apex shafts, not sure what are in my IPTs (if I recall, those are Slazenger-made irons). The shafts are unmarked, but feel really nice when swung.

If they are original shafts they are not Apex shafts , IPT were early sixties, Apex shafts were late 60;s

my experience in these older hogans, I have and game both the 62 power thrusts and 69 Bounce sole +1's and I gave a good go at the stock shafts from Hogan and to be honest as nice as the heads are the shafts where just so old and no life left that I replaced both sets with S300. If your wanting to game them I would suggest changing even to at least a used set of DG shafts of your choice and go. If your wanting to just have them and only play once in a blue moon then keep original.

For lofts of something in the early 60s, I'd suggest going 20° 2 iron to a 52° PW, in even 4° increments. That's reasonably close to the specs of the time; it's not until the late 70s or so that the PW appears to have crept forward to 50°.

Then go with a 58° SW and all is right with the universe. :)

i would like to meet the person who re shafted my apex 2 irons with dynamic golds. he would get a real a** chewing for ruining a very fine set of irons. i recently located another set of apex 2 with original shafts. i plan to get them and compare

i plan to trade clubs for these original apex 2 . then i plan on a head to head comparison with mine that have dynamic golds

Personally, I would much rather have a set of Hogans with Dynamics or DG shafts. It's one of the things that kept me from going the Hogan route early in my blade life; I don't need any assistance getting the ball in the air, which the Apex shaft generally does.

normally i am with you here as i have always liked and played dynamic and golds but here something just dosnt work. the clubs just dont feel right and the long irons especially feel off. they are too light and its hard to tell where the club head is during the swing. it could be that this was an amateur re shaft job gone bad . probably a trip to a repair shop and have the swingweights checked is in order. i am willing to bet they are all way off. the apex 2 head dosnt lend its self to lead tape very well its shaped different with few flat surfaces . i still am not covinced the apex 2 is that good a club to go to this much trouble and expence to have them swingweighted correctly
