Anyone still keep Big Bertha Mini 1.5 in the bag?

I have struggled with 3 wood ever since I broke my trusty Nickent 4DX. Of course I tried the same shaft and other 4DX heads but no go. My struggles and purchasing of 3 woods is a well documented issue, not Duffner's Waggle bad, but bad enough. I have tried Title, Ping, Exotics, BStone, Cally, TM, Adams, just about everything out there and nothing was what I wanted. I NEVER have a honeymoon phase with 3 woods, just hey this is a little better than that, or this is horrible, but no 3 wood since the Nickent has been...WOW. Also I should state that I have also decided that I will NEVER HAVE TO hit a 3 wood off the deck. Sure I may WANT to, but NEED? Nope. I can think of two times in the past 6 years that it could have been hugely beneficial to have a 3 wood to hit off of the deck. I can also think about 5 holes a round I NEED to hit a 3 wood off of the tee. Maybe there is a dogleg, or the fairway is super tight.

If you need to hit 3 wood for a second shot on a par 4 you either.....

A. Hit the one of the most horrible drives of your life and trying to hit a 3 wood off the deck is not a good idea (One of the harder shots in golf to pull off)

B. You are playing from the wrong tees

So back to this weekend. In my second round with the 1.5 I used it 6 times, my yardage was very good, maybe down 20 or so from my driver. I hit it on a piercing trajectory, which will be great for wind holes. I have hit it 11 times in my past two rounds and only missed one fairway(of course I missed most of the planet with that swing, so no club will fix that)

Maybe you should just use a 3 wood with a shorter shaft, or a 4 wood!???I used my XR15 5 wood a lot from the Tee last season. To be honest its rarely length that is the problem in golf, its all about putting the ball in the fairway or at least in play, and then its up to the shortgame.

I just picked up a mini 1.5 on CPO with an Oban Kiyoshi White that plays at 43.5". Let me tell you, this club is an absolute beast and incredibley easy to hit. I hit it 280 yards with a nice penetrating trajectory. What's even better is that its pretty easy to hit off the deck as well. I really struggle with accuracy with my driver and the mini looks like it may be my answer off the tee. My only complaint is that I didn't buy one sooner.

Been using this for about 2 months now & I LOVE IT. Took mine - injected the head to 214 grams. Towards the toe. I snagged a Veylix Naked for it to match my Epic. 42.5 inches. It is a BEAST and I have zero problems hitting it off the ground. Set @ 14 degrees.

Love it for layup or go for it 5s.

This 44" mini-driver has done more to help my scores than any other equipment purchase I've ever made because driver consistency had been the weakest part of my game by far. I picked up a new one for $75 after another WRX-er posted about a Black Friday sale last November. I saw it as a cheaper, easier option to experiment with a shorter driver compared to going through a fitting, shortening my standard 45.5" driver, and tinkering to get the swingweight right.

I know it's really just the shortened length that has made the difference, but I still credit the 1.5 mini for the huge improvement in consistency off the tee and the confidence to step on it so that it's essentially as long as my 45.5" driver. I do plan on getting another driver at the end of this summer when I have the time for a proper fitting where I'm sure I'll end up in this 44" range.

I really wanted to like mine. I wanted to work. The club felt great the distance was great but I could not get the thing to stop going left. This is ironic as with my driver I would miss right either pushing it or slicing it

I struggle with the size of modern drivers. I feel like i am swinging a shovel. I used to use a TEE CB1 off the tee and it was great as my home Golf Course is normally dry and baked out and that club would run forever. The problem that I was noticing is on hot days, and most are, towards the end of rounds I would get tired and which struggle with the smaller head of the Three wood and would have to go back to my driver. I've had varied success with other two words like the old Cleveland 2 Wood, TE Houdini, and the recent TaylorMade offerings. I've also cut down high lofted drivers with similar results.

Then one day I came up with an idea..... lead tape. I'd read about this but had never fooled around with it before. I put a bunch of that on the toe and problem fixed. Its a fairway finder that is almost as long a my driver. I love it. The course is abnormally lush and wet....i will be interested to see what the distance is like with a roll. Right now it's all carry.

I can't see going for this in the 14 degree since you are really getting in fairway wood launch there. I have picked up a couple of 12 degrees in the past couple of months to try out

Late entry, but felt I had to respond. As other posters have said, the usual ball flight with these is a lower, boring trajectory. When I bought mine, I tried the 12* and found it launched too low. The stock 14* model launches on a lower trajectory than you would expect, unless you tee it too high (which is easy to do, even with the shallower head) on the tee out of habit. Then you can 'sky' one.
