Bushnell Medalist or Nikon Coolshot 20?

Going to buy one of these models soon but not set on either one.There is about a $50 price difference.

 

I've never owned a rangefinder in my 20 years of playing so really I am clueless and looking for some feedback.Anybody got any thoughts? Thanks.....

I'm in the same boat as you Grayback, never owned a rangefinder or gps in my entire golf life haha. It's costing me shots guessing, time to stop guessing!

It just seems nice to be able to shoot distances and have a very accurate reading instead of looking for yardage markers,pacing off,etc.....I'm leaning toward the Bushnell because of the name.Its been the top brand for over a decade now.But I like the look and compact size of the Nikon.

I was leaning toward the Coolshot personally, however there is a Federal regulation regarding the shipment of lithium ion batteries. Has to come by ship to where I live unfortunately. I might have to get whatever is available here at the local golf store. Most likely a Bushnell, nothing wrong with Bushnell, it's just I was hoping to keep it under 200.

Grayback I live on Guam. US Territory in the Western Pacific. I am half Palauan though hence the user name. no golf courses in Palau though.

 

Yeah we have rangefinders at the golf stores here but I'm sure they come in by boat. I tried multiple vendors and like 10 different models of rangefinder on Amazon and none can be shipped. I might just order it, have it shipped to my Brother in Seattle, then he can remove the battery and ship the unit to me. I can buy the battery locally. I'll probably go that route.

FWIW if I were in the rangefinder market I'd find the Coolshot 20 an attractive choice, not having seen one in person though. Very small and light, probably pocketable even.

Price is reasonable too, I really like that it's compact. Plus Nikon has to make good optics as well, I mean, they are Nikon haha :)

I think knowing the yardage is only good thing. I've played many years without one, but when I really think about it I give shots away. Especially from 100 and in guessing how far and making a swing where I'm not committed.

Well PH,I pulled the trigger on a completely different model.I went with the Tectectec Vpro 500.I read great reviews about it and also the price is unbeatable at $150.

 

I'll let you know when it comes and give you a review.

I got a Coolshot 20 last year. It is as accurate as my Bushnell. The only issue I have with it is when you try to get a reading at 200 yards or more it is slow to respond. The Bushnell at those yardages is still virtually instant. Otherwise for the price it's a good value.
