Interesting EBay Sale

I still don't understand why people don't snipe in general. It would be easier on the BST here for the seller to put in the least they'll take and the buyer to put in the most they would offer. If the overlap then it's sold at the lowest price. If not you don't get another chance. No negotiating it's just over and the next seller goes

Trouble is on eBay the shill bidders can also setup a snipe at their desired minimum price. So with about 10 seconds your bid hits, theirs does too, and yours, if a higher one is still allowed, will hit again. Whereas sniping used to be a full proof way of getting past shill shenanigans, not so much anymore.

I think the posting strategy here for the eBay add is lost on some people who have commented. This doesn't have anything to do with final value fees.

With eBay, there are several dispute resolution situations where eBay would only refund a dissatisfied buyer the original purchase price, less any shipping or handling charges. By listing the item for $.99, it hypothetically protects the seller from losing a ton of money from some "buyer's remorse" situations.

I agree that eBay may find that the $118 shipping charges are "excessive", but that's another issue altogether.

Ebay really is a frustrating place to sell— they disproportionately prioritize the buyers in all transactions. The strategy used by the seller isn't dumb, and I don't think it deserves to be derided.

Yeah, I only snipe things that I "think" will go below price because of this. Sniping also helps because it takes the emotion out of bidding at the last second. It's either hey I wont it or I didn't. There is no well I could've bidded higher because you already bid your max.

I used to love the hunt and the snipe. Was really fun. But now, almost everything I purchase is BIN.

The good news is that there are some incredible bargains to be had. Just purchased an elbow brace that offline would have been nearly $30. I got it for $12 shipped brand new. Came from a drug store in NJ.

Bought some Chrome Softs used in Mint condition for $25 for 15 shipped.

So yeah, I am still addicted to the fun of bidding/buying but sadly the allure of sniping has been lost a bit because there was a time when sniping often meant hitting an item that had no bids last minute and getting an incredible bargain. That just doesn't happen as often any longer.
