I would have to put price as the most important to me. I'm not going around playing the same brand all the time, but if I do like a particular ball, Nike Mojo for me right now, I'm not going to be able to play it all the time if it did cost as much as Pro V1s.

What matters to me most in a golf ball is a combination of feel and greenside spin.

I am a higher SS player and prefer a softer feel. I spin the ball plenty on full iron shots, but prefer to have a bit more for those touchy shots around the green.

Spin and feel are the traits I look for in a ball but it all comes down to value. I think there are many good balls around for less than $45/dzn that spin appropriately and feel good.

I look for a good value as well considering feel, spin, and SOUND of contact goes with the feel aspect and is very important to me. If PV1's are the standard there are several options at $28 to $30 almost as good for anyone not of Plus Handicap or some scratch players, but not all.

1. The amount of spin around the green, especially half-wedge shots

2. Distance off the tee

3. The way it handles in the wind.

For me it's spin (I like a lot), followed by feel, then distance. I'm comfortable with how far I hit the ball, but statistically speaking I miss more greens than I hit. I rely considerably on chipping, which is all about the spin.

I really don't expect miracles from a golf ball. If I hit the ball correctly, it should perform as I expect it to...

 

With a short iron into the green, I should see a check-up after one bounce.

With a driver in hand, average spin rate and some roll depending on the conditions

With a putter, a soft feel and consistent roll.
