Would Love Rangefinder w/ Slope Recommendations under $400

Recommended Posts

So I got off the course today and I came to the realization that I need to purchase a rangefinder.

I was wearing my GPS watch but the course had so many peaks and valleys it didn't really do me any good and just gave me inaccurate readings.

My question is which rangefinder with slope should I purchase? I've read up on the Bushnell Tour V4 Shift and seems like that could be an ideal candidate. Should I check anything else out?

Ideally I would love to stay under $400 but being in the $300's (or even less) would of course work as well.

Looking to buy ASAP so any and all feedback would be much appreciated.

How about < $200 ; http://www.ebay.com/itm/391697024457?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

the coupon code is in the listing but in case you don't see it , it is P20MEMDAY for 20% off (have to use paypal). Best rangefinder deal in a couple of years imo.

Thanks! Bought one of these today, reviews were fantastic and Leupold seems to be really well regarded from a customer service standpoint.

Can confirm.

I bought one of those same units at Christmas with some gift cards I'd been given. With it being winter I had no chance to try it out on the course until ~5 months later.

On the course I couldn't get any readings and neither could my partners.

Sent it in to Leupold on a Wednesday with an explanation of the issues, and when I checked the mail the following Monday there was a box with a nice shiny new rangefinder. I'd heard their customer service was great, but that blew me away.

Great deal going on at Costco for "Bushnell Tour X" - $289

This one has slope with interchangeable face plates, so you can use for tournaments as well.

Yes it is a great deal, but keep in mind that this unit is a discontinued model.

Thankfully, it's a Leupold. If it ever fails, the company will stand behind the product and send you the newest version if yours breaks and cannot be fixed. Great company.

Hope this lasts thru Father's Day. I plan on one being my Father's Day gift. I don't want to spend $400 for one but do want slope and reliability. The Leupold, the nx7 pro and this X are all on my radar.

Thanks for the response everyone. I'm learning toward a Bushnell just because my understanding is that they are the best in the marketplace. Have no real interest in purchasing something off of eBay. Would rather purchase from a retail store.

Like the idea of the Tour X but I want to make sure it's supported by Bushnell.

Bushnell is much more prominant in the golf business because they spend a ton on advertising and they sponsor several pros. Leupold is more well known in the hunting and military arenas. I have found that Leupold has better optics and customer service. Both companies make quality products so it really comes down to price and preference.

Slope is interesting. In archery, when shooting uphill or downhill there is a cut in distance. In golf there is a cut in down hill shots, but you've got add going uphill. Clearly you wouldn't want to use slope with the wrong style of rangefinder. My rangefinder does. It have a slope option, are the golf ones with slope worth it? What kind of math is behind the golf slope findings?

I've been using a skycaddie sgx-w and absolutely love it! But decided on getting a rangefinder with slope. So I traded a 917 driver for a basically new Bushnell Pro X2 and really, really like it.

But still if I had choose 1, I'd go skycaddie sgx-w. Because I'm a member at a course and with the colored flags and with _sgx-w I can guess roughly where on the green the flag was located and it'd be with 1-3 yards of the X2. But the sgx-w gives front, back, side to side green depth plus all hazards, bunkers and lay ups to any distance id like.

Also what surprised me was how much I over estimated the slope on many shots.

You can't go wrong with a good rangefinder with slope that's for sure. But I'd still recommend slightly more a sgx-w from eBay for like $90-95 refurbished from skycaddie.

Anyways just a suggestion for X2 or sgx-w.

Really need to also look at Precision Pro - the slope model is $249 with a $50 rebate gets it below $200. A couple of buddies have them and really like them. I have a Bushnell, but if I had to replace it I would probably go to this one due to the much lower price and from what I have seen works just as well when compared side x side to mine.

Use the code: GOLFWRX1 to receive $20 off any purchase.

The NX7s $30-$50 rebates will still be accepted until the end of June for all US customers.

Is this a deal or is it just Costco's regular price?

I bought a new Bushnell Pro X2 for $369 for a friend. Works perfectly and there's just a switch, no interchangeable faceplates for slope. After looking at them all and pricing them out, I thought the Pro X2 was the best rangefinder and the price was fair.

Most places it looks sells it for $449 and even eBay's lowest price now is $419.

It may be some time before it's readily available at that number. I just ordered the tour x from Costco and if it has re mirrored lens I'll send back and get the NX7 pro.

I picked up the Bushnell Tour X from Costco. What a great purchase. Super easy to use. Really like that you can see the numbers in black or red. Super happy with my purchase.
good to hear.

I just read where one of the reviewers on amazon said Costco sold the mirrored lens version. That has me super worried. I just ordered tonight. Hope to see it by weeks end. If so, I'll send it back.
