Why do caddies always lay the staff bags down?

Are they unsteady in wind? Is there no desire to have a stand mechanism built on those huge bags?

Just curious. Thanks.

In case they fall down. A bag lying on the ground cannot fall and make a noise. A bag stood up can.

Can't imagine that there is much desire to add a stand to a bag which already weighs enough as it is.

Im pretty sure adding a stand leg system wouldn't weigh anymore then an another iron.

Look at the calves on the caddie! I guess there are some benefits to lifting that bag! :)

You have a thing for caddie's calves, do ya? :)

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Also players can sit on bag! One more benefit

they can also bench press the bag while waiting on the tee.....saves a Gym trip

use the bag as a picnic table for snax when theres a hold up......

prop two bags against each other like a teepee for rain cover......

Use it as a (firm) pillow..........

stand on it to see over the brow of a hill...........

the uses are just endless......

Hope this answers some questions

1.) The bags are heavy yes, but not so heavy you can't carry them. You may not want to, but if you're potentially going to make a good bit of coin doing it then it's not bad...the straps are comfy too

2.) There's really no point in a stand for a staff bag. It's just an unnecessary feature. Why go through the act of standing it up when you can't just lay it down. Not enough hassle to warrant a stand

3.) Nobody is forced to use a big staff bag but if you are truly prepared for everything on the golf course, you will use one. I never realized just how much I was missing out on until I was given one. Every pocket in my Titleist bag has a use and although it is a big bag it is very efficient.

No more do I take my umbrella and rain gear out to make space if I think it won't rain, no longer are my snacks squished by god knows what in the big community pouch of my old stand bag, things are neatly organized in my staff bag, etc. it's almost as essential as my routine on the course because I believe in keeping your world on the golf course clean and organized. I couldn't keep my bag organized while also keeping all my essentials for the round

Got to agree with you. I use a older model Titleist Mini Staff. Now due to the heat and health concerns I ride mostly. My mini staff is not really that heavy but I do not have that much stuff in it compared to other folks. Around 6 maybe 8 balls some tees and 5 gloves and my range finder. Like you stated I take my umbrella and rain gear out when there is no chance of rain. do not have club tangle either. I do have a couple of stand bags and they are aggervating on a cart with the tangle etc. Around here most bag drop guys put them on so tight that you have to restrap them to get clubs in and out. Now I can see some folks using a smaller stand bag if trunk space is an issue which is common with today's newer cars. For me that is no issue either I either drive my pick up truck or the wife's mini van. If security is an issue my bag fits in the front seat. LOL I was helping one of my buddies at the bag drop back in the spring (his help was late) and some of these guys have those cart bags really loaded up. Man they are heavier than the old full staff bags of the 70s that were made of real leather. Now in the winter spring and fall I do walk some and I either carry 8 clubs or so in my Sunday bag or carry a really light TEE 3.5 stand bag.
