New to the Greenville Area - Playing Partners/Clubs?

Just relocated to the Greenville area for work, living up in Lyman but working in Mauldin so kind of all over. I have had the opportunity to play some courses already (Walker, Cherokee Valley, Legacy Pines, Willow Creek, River Plantation, Furman, and Links O' Tryon)

 

I had a regular playing partner in Texas and am looking to find someone or a group to play with regularly. Any of y'all get out there on a regular basis that wouldn't mind picking up another?

 

I had also looked into finally joining a club, but with the numerous options thought I would post up in here to see if anyone had some experiences to share? I know there are some of the higher end CC's like Spartanburg/Greenville/Thornblad/The Cliffs that may be out of my price ranger for initiation and dues. However, some research on here and in general showed that Holly Tree, Green Valley, Pebble Creek etc may have the best value going in. I would have signed up at the Walker course, but making an hour drive to play a round from the house doesn't make it a good value to have a membership there, looking to keep it in the Greenville/Spartanburg area.

 

Any recommendations? I am mainly looking for a place that I can get out and meet some people and play regularly in either league's/organized games or get in with a group to play regularly. I am 30, play at least once a week and sit around a 10 handicap at the moment.

Also just moved here from Texas. I've seen the elite golf tour and Greenville golf society on the web but haven't contacted anyone about them. iItry to play at least every other week and would be down for a round with another person from Texas. Loving the elevation changes on the courses. 29, 14 handicap.

Awesome, good to know. I am going to try and get out with Greenville Golfing Society on Labor Day as they are having an event.

There’s a ton of courses in the area. If a value membership is what you want Greer CC is very reasonable. I’m not a member anywhere as I just play all over but I know some guys there. It’s a short course and overall decent. I think a membership at river falls also includes Village Greens but I’m not 100% on that. You also have woodfin ridge....meadowbrook is in NC but not a long drive at all. Three Pines in woodruff is popular with some guys I work with. You mentioned pebble creek, haven’t played there in many years, it has 2 courses so that’s a plus.

You are correct. There is a membership that gets you village greens and river falls membership together ( same ownership ).

 

I play out of Village and live above Inman ... if you’d like I can put you in touch with the GM that you need to talk to about membership. Just shoot me a pm. It’s a very good value on two totally different courses. Loads of competition to play for both clubs as well as an inter club match play event each year which is always a fun day.
