Grew up in MT my whole life. Played Couer d'Alene Resort with my grandfather once. He took me there when I was 18. Shot a 66 from the tips which ties my career round. I was 4 off the course record held by John Cook at the time. One of the very best courses/golf experiences in my life. You guys have got to play it if you ever get a chance. Oh and I only pared the floating green. :D

If you are staying at the resort the green fees are $220, $320 if you are not staying at the resort.

 

I was there on a corporate outing so my company comp'd everything for me (and I got to play it twice) :D

Yes, their fore caddies are great...it is mandatory to take one and definitely worth it

Nice, pics- I grew up in Cd'a and caddied there for a few years. Definitely a must play if you're in the area, immaculate conditions- Pretty Easy layout for the most part unless it gets windy, but there are many holes there that you won't ever forget.

try playing this course when its 50* and with a 20 mph wind. We actually play in a high school tournament out there every year.

Don't know if anyone's still posting in the string, but I have a question: I'm going to CDA in about a week, and my Dad and I are playing the resort course twice! To say I'm excited is an understatement. My question is about shot distances. How much further does the ball travel in CDA vs. sea level? I live in PA, and I'm not sure how to adjust club selection. Thanks! BTW: the pics look great. I'll be taking plenty when I'm there, and I'll share upon my return. - Derek

Haha - well that was 5 yrs ago. I'd give anything to have that set of Mizuno MP32s back in the bag with the X100s that I was playing. Such a great set of clubs - idiot for selling them. I can unproudly say that I have lower back issues now at the ripe old age of 30 and I'm only getting 150-155 out of my AP2 712 9 iron & if the back is not well I'm swinging much easier and its closer to 140-145. Hittin the driver about the same though so that is good. I cleaned up that week, the very next day I played in my Company's tournament and got the closest to the pin on the Floating green and also the Long Drive on the 1st hole (short par 5), hit it out there 326yds, had an 8 iron in from 175 and flew it past the green. It [i]was[/i] good to be young and healthy!

Such a fun week - it was a blessing for sure to play well. I had been playing pretty streaky up until that week so wasn't sure how I would fair and ended up hitting some of the best shots I had hit all year on that course. I was roughly a 14 hdcp at that time (10.2 now).

Thanks for posting in the thread - brings back some great memories. The good golf was only part of it - my wife and I had a blast the 5-6 days we were out there. Went water skiing on the Lake and did some beach time, great restaurants, etc. Can't wait to get back there.
