MORE PICS! Floating GREEN!!

Hello All-

Just wanted to share some pics from my recent trip to Coeur d'Alene which is home to the Floating Green...it is a sweet course and I had the chance to play it twice last week while I was there and even birdied the floating green the second day I played it.

BIG THANKS to my smokin' hot wife for taking all the pics!!!!!!!!!!

#4 is a short Par 4, a Great hole


This is #6, the 3rd Par 3 on the front. Plays a good 10 yds shorter because of the downhill green


#7 is one of my favorite holes on the course, plenty of room on the left hand side for a big bomb off the tee


This is Coeur d'Alene's "Over-the-Water" driving range. You hit floating golf balls into the lake but they feel like real balls, Pretty Cool


Gettin' ready to hit my tee shot to the Floating Green #14. It played 165yd that day which is a comfortable 9 iron for me and I was able to make Birdie!!

Green at the Par 5 11th hole (by the way the condos you see on the right range from 6500 sq. ft. to 8200 sq. ft. and go for between $3.5M to $5.5M)...I almost bought one (NOT!)


Practice swing at the short Par 4 13th, another one of my favorites. I put it on the right edge of the green as it played a little short that day since they had it up one tee box

I remember playing that course once or twice...

 

 

on TW '05, averaged -23 on it ;). Really, though, thanks for the pics, I hope to play there one day as it looks nice, it plays nice and short and has some really famous holes on it.

Thanks for the great pics. I am going to be in CdA next weekend, and after seeing the course, am DEFINITELY going to find the time to play.

that's the sucky part... you have to walk out on this bridge on the side then wade through knee-deep water on a sandbar.

Hey guys,

 

Thanks for all the nice comments! To answer a few of the questions the course is located in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho which is the very northern tip of the state about 100 miles south of Canada. What really makes this course great too is they use bentgrass on thier fairways which is what most courses only use on their greens so the fairways are like carpet...best kept course I've ever played.

 

I've played the TW '05 game a lot as well and the game did a great job of making the course realistic. I recognized all the holes right away from playing the game which made it fun.

 

The lake was awesome and my wife and I took advantage of the warm temperature of the lake (about 80* F) by doing some water skiing and hanging out at the private resort beaches, they were great. It is an awesome lake for swimming.

 

To finish the floating green hole you actually have to take a boat out to the green (I attached a pic below)

Here is a pic of the Coeur d'Alene resort where we stayed. Our room faced straight out to the lake and we were on the 14th floor so plenty high for a nice clear view...very nice place with tons of restaurants located on the resort and a lot of great ones within walking distance as well

Great pics and a fun course to play. The best public course in the area is Circling Raven. Thats a hidden gem.

Great pics. I used to live in Spokane (suburb-Liberty Lake) which was 20 minutes from CDL. We'd play the resort for $60 in September. Great deal.

 

Did you play any other courses in the area? There are some great hidden courses out there

Honestly I didn't get a chance to play any of the other courses in the area although I heard from many of the locals that there are roughly 13 other courses in that immediate area that are all worth checking out. My wife and I are into water sports as well so we spent a lot of time in the lake...one of the best lakes I've ever been to and won't be the last time I vacation there.

 

Lots of celebs in that area too...I ate breakfast 10ft away from John Elway the last day I was there; apparently he owns some property up there...He has an awesome wood speedboat that he gets around in too

Thats a great trip! I hope you had a blast...but I am sure you did ^^ How could you not with dubs on your golf cart and boats to go putt? heh.

Elway has a house as do the Baldwins and Travolta (his mom does theatre in CDA). I also heard Tiger has a house there although I can't confirm...

 

It's a great area. Just stay there...about 40 miles away is the KKK headquarters and believe me...scary!

There are many in that area that don't have a clue. Living in log cabins and hunting mountain lions! :yes:

Not to put him in this category....but Mark Furman lives very nearby! :tongue:

On Sunday,the 5th hole pin was in the back finger of green into a 15 mph wind. Aaagh!

I elected to play the tips, and it was a good test of golf. I was forced to hit a fair amount of long irons, and a fw or two into the longer holes.

I just had family pictures taken last week at Tubbs Hill next to the CDA resort. Have not played there yet but I get up to Spokane every year to visit my family. Played Indian Canyon and Chewelah Golf and CC, though.

That's great to hear you enjoyed the course as well. I played it from the tips and from the Blue (which is one up from the tips) and it is a lot more fun from the tips I think (you have more full clubs into the greens instead of half wedges).

 

And you're right about the service, it is top notch! They have a great pro-shop too. Tons of equipment and a lot of hard to find Nike apparell

I don't even want to know...I went there with my company on their rewards trip so my wife and I never dropped a dime. They even covered my golf (TWICE). I know it costs $240 to play the course if you are staying at the Coeur d'Alene resort (which I was) and about $300 to play if you are not staying at the resort.

 

If you can make it up there the golf course is worth every penny. The course was in absolutely pristine condition...I've played a lot of the courses in Scottsdale here in Arizona and our best courses are never in the condition that Coeur d'Alene is kept in day in and day out

Aha...so you are responsible for the great time I had playing the course! VERY nice job, I don't know how you keep it in the condition that you do. Those fairways were like carpet, best kept course I have played by far.

 

I'm not sure if you know many of the caddies there but my caddie both days I played was Adam (he was a tall kid) and he did a great job.

Home sweet home ,I lived there for 6 years but San Diego lured me back with its exploding economy in 2000 .Nicklaus is doing " The Idaho Club" formerly Hidden Lakes 50 miles north of Coeur d alene in Hope Idaho it is a signature course of his due to open this summer .I used to play Hidden lakes and it was awesome ,it had water on 15 holes and was ranked as the most difficult course in the state .I'm sure Jack will do it justice .If you have'nt been to this area ,I would strongly recommend a trip up there .No photo can do its beauty justice.
