Bandon Preserve or Ghost Creek at Pumpkin Ridge?

We are heading down to Bandon Dunes from Vancouver, BC. Making the drive on the Tuesday (Oct 31). Have 7 rounds scheduled for Bandon (1 on Wed, 2 on Thurs, 2 on Fri and 2 on Sat). None of them on the Preserve. Leaving on Sunday to drive home.

 

We are either going to:

 

1. Play Ghost Creek at Pumpkin Ridge around 11 am on the way down (Tuesday Oct 31) and then finish the drive to Bandon that afternoon/evening; or

 

2. Drive straight down to Bandon, arriving around 2-3 pm, and then play the Preserve at least once, maybe 1.5 or 2 times.

 

None of us have played Ghost Creek. Some of us have played the Preserve while for some it will be there first time (if we don't play it on the Tuesday, we won't play it at all).

 

Thoughts/suggestions????

Preserve, all day long.

 

Ghost Creek will likely be a swamp by the end of October. If it were July, I'd probably go the other way, but not late October.

Agree with Kevin above.

 

Pumpkin after August, they have to hide the ropes and stools. I'd kill myself.

Just came back from a similar trip to Bandon. After 36 holes any more golf that same day is free. Assuming you can keep going (energy or daylight). This is a great way to play the Preserve and especially is you just came off Trials for your 2nd 18 of the day. The Preserve is a no brainer and even more so if free.

Depending on the weather I would do Langdon or Stone Creek ahead of Pumpkin, especially that time of year.

 

That said I would probably do Preserve then Shorty's or Shorty's then Preserve.

 

One other option I will throw out is to play Sandpines on the way down. It will break up the drive and is a very fun course plus Florence has some pretty good seafood

Well it was for us back in early September so perhaps they changed their policy. Our caddy (9 year vet) first informed us and I also checked with the Trails pro shop. They all confirmed it was free after 36 and we we're not charged.

Think we are going to drive straight down and post up at Bandon on the Tuesday afternoon (preserve, shorty's, punch bowl, range, pints).
