Seeking info on Walter Hagen irons

Good morning all,

 

I recently picked up a set of Walter Hagen blades that resemble the classic Wilson FG irons from generations past. I tried to find info on the design specs and read from an unverified source that they were made by Wilson for the Walter Hagen Golf Company around 2000/2001. If anyone has info on these clubs please share. Thanks!

These are a clubmaker set of Hagen irons, from the timeframe you mention, though not from the original or Wilson-owned Hagen Golf. I believe they were forged here in the USA, either Hoffman or Cornell, and are bored for parallel shafts.

 

I once had a set that I didn't hold on to for various reasons, as far as I remember, their feel was reminiscent of the Wilson Staffs I've owned.

I have a set of these as well. Really liked them except they a sharp leading edge and tended to dig too much on soft fairways. Now if I could find a set with the soft leading edge of my MacGregors and the blade shape of the Hagens that would be my next set of irons. :-) Actually looking at the new Wilson FG 100 blades at the moment.

So it's safe to assume that these were component heads that were built into sets by club makers?

Yes. I bought them as heads only 2-PW and put them together myself. I think the foundry was about to close at the time because they were very inexpensive for being an actual forged set. You can also find some of these with the "Integra" brand name on the back of the blade. Same head exactly.
