Any Surfers Here?

Built my life around surfing for over 30 years. Curious how many other surfers are on here?

Never done it, but if any members have some vids of themselves riding some waves I would really get a kick out of watching them. Fascinating to watch.

This past year I've been a little dinged up with shoulder problems so I've been doing a lot of surf photography. This is my 12 year old last Sunday. Shots taken while standing on a snow covered beach in the freezing cold. I had to drastically reduce the image quality in order for the animation to work with the photo hosting site I use.

 

He was kind of bummed on this one. The guy in the foreground was in his line and closer than the photos make it appear which forced him to straiten out and cut the ride short. If you watch closely you can see he's distracted. Still a great ride and glad I got the shot.

Former surfer. Grew up in CA spent summers just north of San Diego as a kid forced visitation with my dad. He'd drop me off at the beach in morning pick me up after work. Pillbox Swamis 15th st Del Mar or Oceanside State beach mostly. Hated cold water so never surfed back home in SF area but spent a lot of winter afternoons when I should have been in class watching the OGs of Mavericks surf the giant wave in the early to mid 90's. Unfortunately was also there the day Foo died.

 

We go to Hawaii often enough I keep telling myself to borrow a board from a buddy who lives there and give it another go but hasn't happened yet. Still watch WSL events especially big wave.

The past few years I have been travelling to that part of California to expose my boys to California's waves and the level of surfing that is out there. I usually post up in San Clemente within walking distance of Trestles and chase waves from Salt Creek down to Torrey Pines. Love Oceanside and San Clemente in particular. T-Street, Trestles and the jetties in Oceanside are my favorite surf spots in that area.
