Help me pick 2 of 3 Scottsdale

I'm taking 16 guys to Scottsdale in mid April. I need to select two of following three courses and could use some advice. Please take a minute to tell me which two and why. Thanks in advance!!!

 

Troon North Monument

Grayhawk Raptor

WeKoPa Saguaro

Why Monument over Pinnacle?

Yes. Although I will say that the back 9 of Monument is probably my favorite of the 4 9s.

I would choose Saguaro (best track, great Coore and Crenshaw design, pure desert with no housing), then Pinnacle, then Monument (slight differences there), then Raptor (best overall facilities, but the course isn't quite in league with Saguaro and the Troon North courses, although puttn disagrees). But remember, you are really talking about 4 great courses (with the addition of Pinnacle) that you simply can't go wrong with.

Definitely, yes. If I called Raptor a 6 out of 10 then Saguaro would be a 9. I honestly don’t think they are even in the same league. Saguaro is one of the most strategic designs I’ve ever played and it is also in a beautiful setting. Raptor is basically like every other Fazio course in existence, i.e., very nice, well designed and fun but nowhere in the neighborhood of special.

The other two courses I think we're planning on playing on the two remaining days (less expensive options for cost reasons) are Quintero (have multiple people in the group that insist we play there) and Sunridge Canyon.

Good call...imo, toss Sunridge. There are better choices: Eagle Mtn., Legend Trail.....if you don't mind a bit of a drive then Southern Dunes is a definite.

Friday - Quintero

Saturday - Tryon North Pinnacle

Sunday - We-Ko-Pa Saguaro

 

perfect....eagle will get you warmed up nicely and is a great start...then it gets better

 

Just prepare yourselves to go from one of the more forgiving layouts (Eagle Mountain) to one of the least (Quintero).

I'm in minority on this board but I love Quintero. Saguaro is nice. Southern Dunes is my other favorite with Quintero though.

Quintero is an objectively terrible golf course. Design could be a “how to” on screwing up available land and I still recommend it to nearly every visitor. The same cannot be said for Dinosaur Mountain. It is objectively terrible and I honestly think it is so bad that I can’t recommend it. Both of these courses are seemingly the worst that could be done with the land available but both have beautiful views.
