Skytrak owner here. Trackman Vs skytrak isn't really and apples for apples because they use different tech and are completely different price points.

If you are after the best, and have the funds get a trackman, think you also need a longer hitting area for indoor TrackMan. I think they have some sim software too.

If you don't have the cash to splash then skytrak is an awesome bit of kit for the amateur. Plenty accurate , good range software , good sim options.

The 2nd market on skytrak is decent so you could start with skytrak and porgess through GC2 and then a flightscope or trackman

2014 Low 2.9
2015 Low 2.6
2016 Low 2.1
2017 Target 1.4
2018 Target 0.4
2019 Target +15
Current 0.2

Indoor environment - GC2 or GCQuad is going to be much better. Plus HMT is way more accurate on club data than Trackman. Outside ball data from Trackman is way better.

The best way to use Skytrak is to understand it's limitations as a retail camera based system. Find out your launch, spin, and ball speed numbers with some of your clubs with the golf balls you actually play or something similar on Trackman or GC. Then try to hit those numbers with Skytrak at home.

Take carry number spit out by Skytrak with a grain of salt because that is going to depend on their trajectory model inputting those values. Trackman or Flightscope have the most accurate trajectory models.

If you are approx close to ball speed, launch, and spin on Skytrak you will hit your carry numbers on the course.

Careful- club data on hmt bc of stickers may be more accurate indoors but ball data on TM indoors is still more accurate. Next upgrade for TM showing true impact location is going to be better than HMT. Thank god no stickers on the club too!

What do most people use in their garage simulator?

Depends what you want. If it is just to have some fun w/o a need for very high accuracy, Skytrack is usually good enough (and it's not completely horrible for accuracy).

If you want a higher level of accuracy, gc2 tends to be the more popular choice.

The problem with most radar units (except for the higher priced TM4 or Flightscope X3) and sims is that they can't be used for chips and putts. They also generally need more room - roughly 20 ft from radar unit to screen. But if you have the room and mainly want to work on your swing (instead of play games), then the flightscope Xi Tour or a used X2 is going to be a bit less expensive then gc2 w/ HMT if you want both ball and club data.

I spotted this video (

) which shows a few tweaks to Skytrak’s software and also suggests club data integration using Skypro is possibly only months away.

While the process of calibrating Skypro between club changes will always be a drawback, this integration of club and ball data is significant,at the price point (acknowledging accuracy issues, compared to the high end launch monitors)

Most people don't have enough room to make Trackman Indoor mode accurate. Camera based systems for indoors are typically better.
