PGA blades

Can someone shed some light on these for me, like the era and manufacturer? I Googled till I was blue in the face but came up with nothing. But they are in awesome shape and for 32 dollars I felt i had to do it. They are pga classics and I also saw pga ryder cups and burkes on eBay but can't find anything online about them.

I believe PGA is the brand. The Classic must be the model. 1980's would be my guess. Not sure but I want to say PGA was associated with Tommy Armour maybe? Pro Group? Something like that.

Thank you. That is more information than I had. I knew they were the pga brand but that is all I knew. I Googled and googled and the only thing that popped up was more for sale on eBay. I got this set 3-p and just ordered a pga sand wedge off of eBay for $12. The ones I already got are in great shape so I wanna get them regripped and use them when I walk 9 in the mornings. The only concern I have is the length, they are shorter than newer sets but I worry about screwing up the swing weight if I have them lengthened.

From the information I found that model was available from 1968-1976. They were manufactured by Victor Comptometer Corp. through it's Victor Golf Division which operated as PGA Golf and Burke-Worthington through the '60's and '70's. PGA was the professional line of clubs. In 1985 they became Tommy Armour Golf. I remember some of the PGA clubs were very nice clubs and relatively expensive for the '60's.

PGA brought out the Tommy Armour woods, irons long before 1985 name chnage, they acquired and used the name by the early 1970s when MacGregor lost the TA rights.

  • 3 weeks later...

My dad’s first set were PGA Ryder Cup blades late sixties/early seventies, he bought them in a course pro shop barely used because they were an inch over standard and he was tall LOL. They then became my first set 25/30ish years later and although I’m way shorter times had changed so much that they worked perfectly! Wish I had that set today ?

I got them regripped and added a ben Hogan round sole 2 iron and a PGA sand wedge(thank you ebay) to the set. Now I just need the weather to cooperate. I hit one whiffle ball with the 6 iron in my back yard and it swung nice. Felt solid and balanced. I am excited to get them on a course or at least the range.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
