can I hire someone to sit in the car with me?

Guys,

PGABOEDY, a fine amateur golfer, and member of this board, is coming into town on Friday - I'll be picking him up at JFK at 10:30 am - and he has never had the chance to get out on the Black. I'm willing to go and sit in my car in the early hours to get in line, but I need someone to meet me at around 5:20 am to go in and get a wrist band with me. I'll be happy to pay you for your time.

Does anyone know if this would work? I know you need to be there to get the time, but can the wrist band be switched?

Lemme know - and let me know what $$ is fair.

I don't believe the wrist band can be switched. I believe they put it on tight enough where it can't be slipped off and then it is cut off at the first tee by the starter.

Exactly, that is why they use the wristbands. My advice is get in line.

sometimes they might let you book the tee time and then hold the wristband for whoever is using it, while they arent suppoesd to do this, I have done it before when I had my dad pay for my friend so that he could get the resident rate and they didnt care

Maybe PGABOEDY can get an earlier flight??

 

I think if you go to the course and tell them that the wristband was cutoff (make up a story) but you still have it, they might let him in.

 

"I was just here this morning and my wristband got cut off when I was ..." (and make up a story)

 

Maybe even scratch up his wrist a little bit. ;)
