Where would you take your 11 year old son golfing between Denver and Colorado Springs??

Sorry for the long title but I wanted to avoid wasting peoples time if they don't know or care about golfing with kids, I'm bring my son to Colorado Springs for Fathers Day weekend, we land Sunday Morning at 10:07 AM and leave Tuesday at 4:20 PM. We have a busy day on the 17th with soaring adventures and seven falls near the Broadmoor, I think Monday is going to be Cheyenne Mountain zoo and park day, possibly get up to garden of the gods depending on how long we stay at each place, but Tuesday is up in the air. I want to take him golfing but I'm worried about him keeping up, he would have no problem picking up and placing by me if he's struggling too bad but I don't know if there are times of day that kids are allowed on the courses out there or if it's course by course. Any 18 hole course by us in Michigan typically prefers you wait until after 1 PM some as late as 3 PM before you bring out any Jr players, looking at websites I'm not seeing much mention of anything with Bear Dance, Fossil Trace, The ridge at Castle Pines, Arrowhead etc. My last trip to CO I played Omni Interlocken, Arrowhead, Bear Dance, and Fossil Trace, I'd happy play any of those again with him, but also open to suggestions if anyone with kids has a better more kid friendly track. He wants to see mountains and views so I'm kind of trying to stay closer to the front range versus by the airport but we're not too terribly picky! Worst case scenario we hit top golf on our way back to Denver for our flight home, and I'm starting to lean in this direction but I have the ability to bring our clubs and thinking it may be a mistake to leave them at the house.

I golf with both of my boys (13 and 10) and we have had good luck with Foothills and the Meadows. The courses are not in the same league as the ones that you mention (my 13 year old has played most - but he is a very good junior golfer). A time around 11 or after should have you missing most of the traffic so you wouldn't be pushed as much.

Green Valley Ranch has a very nice par 3 course. Unlimited play and range balls for $20/person. Maybe you could even combine it with a 9 hole round.

 

If you can get to Castle Rock early enough on Tuesday (warning: lots of commuters that drive north in the mornings), maybe you can play Red Hawk Ridge. Lots of very pretty views of the front range. It's not going to work for you, but they do offer a $10 junior rate after 5pm.

 

Enjoy Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It truly is one of the best in the nation in my opinion.

Thanks to both of you, this weekends weather looks not so awesome so I'm going to leave the clubs at home, this will allow us to not check a bag and travel a lot quicker without lugging them behind to possibly be rained out. Top golf it is!
