Got a chance to chat with Lexi's father as we walked up the 18th. Nice guy.

 

Got a pic with In Gee and two Flying Dumbos. Nice way to end the day.

Lexi hits a 300 yard drive on the par 5 5th, hits 3 wood 240 yards to 5 feet, and misses the eagle putt. That hurts. Ariya missed a shorter birdie putt, so the hole location must have been a tough read.

Now now. I ran into Lexi and her dad after the round, and she was very nice.

 

I also said hi to So Yeon's mom while So Yeon was doing an interview on the range after her round. I don't think she speaks English.

Ariya is walking gingerly and holding her lower back. Looks to be in a bit of pain.

 

What hole? Started off with 3 birdies.

 

On her 2nd hole. She hit a fantastic 2nd out of the rough that ran a good 40 yards up and on to the green. She made birdie, but was bending over holding her back. She's looked in pain ever since.

Ariya was injured from the start...she was walking slowly and grimaced after her 1st tee shot...she also walked up gingerly on the tee to get ready to hit her drive.

Yeah, I guess Ariya was injured from the start. Lexi's dad said he talked to Ariya's caddie early in the round, and she was hurting before the round. Not sure if she injured herself on the range, or came to the course that way. 'Hope it's nothing serious.

A fun day at the course, but walking 36 holes is rough. I played a round on the drive up yesterday, and I have a 7:30 am tee time in the morning. I'm not expecting a low score. I'll be lucky to make it to the first tee.

 

Lexi can seriously hit the ball. She had a 300 yard drive on the 5th, and hit it 290 on the par 5 8th.

 

In Gee's tempo is simply amazing. She never seems to lash at the ball. Whether it's a 9 iron or hybrid, the swing is the same.

 

Ariya's putter seemed quite hot today. She was obviously hurt, and not hitting it as far later in the round, but she still had managed to score. She got a great break on the 7th when she pulled her tee shot. It hit a tree, and bounced a few yards into the fairway, giving her a clear shot at the green.

Yeah, Hee Young had a great round. She missed a few makeable birdie putts that would have really rocketed her up the leaderboard.

Back in 2013...Lexi's drives were falling out of the sky....seemed like she was getting too much spin out of her Bio Cell and it took her a while to upgrade....until she started to play the LTD and gaining more yardage.

 

Did you notice if she was playing a F8 driver?

The new F8 woods and hybrids are pretty sweet sticks....my friend bought them all this year and I hit the F8 4/5W with an Even Flow shaft at the golf show in February and it was solid.

 

But I think Lexi is still playing those ancient S3 Forged irons...they are kinda shovels...but the wide sole is good for her 18" pelt divot swing.

I'm kinda shocked Cobra hasn't forced her hand to play more recent irons.

I think Brittany Altomare & Annie Park are the only other LPGA pros playing a PX iron shaft along with Lexi.

 

Isn't Lydia playing the new black KBS TGI graphite shafts in her irons & hybrids?

I did see that Hee Young was playing a custom set of Mizuno irons. They're a split cavity design, but not MP-18 SCs.

Yeah, I brought my Skycaddie. I'll post yardages later, but they were basically correct minus a few yards, as the tees were in front of the official yardage signs behind the tee boxes.

Alison looks healthy...but for someone who has completely lost her game...why is she smiling.

Hopefully someone will go out to watch her for 9 holes soon and tell us why she can't score anymore.

OK...I answered my own question...Mark Wallington is not on HYP's bag and looping for Masson.

 

The Rocket goes through so many caddies....why?....HYP makes Tina look like a loyal employer.

Kylie was HYP's only steady caddie....I would think that it would be easy to loop for her and she'd get along with pretty well anyone.

Could The Rocket be a wolf in a sheep's clothing?
