Tiger Expierimenting with S&T Basics

Did anyone see this today?

Seems that many of the face on shots the golf channel aired today he was staying much more centered over the ball which looked like the basics of the S&T Swing.

Did anyone else notice this?

No. Just looked like nice relaxed Tiger, completely in control of his swing. I didn't see anything remotely resembling Stack and Tilt.

Go back to like 2005 after Pinehurst and read "tiger's tips" from golf digest. He talks about how he improved his driving by working on keeping his head still/centered.

in one of the latest golf magazines he was saying that he trying to stay on his toes more. he has a tendency to put more weight on his heels, and since fixing this he has been smokin it.

a player can remain relatively centered and be nowhere close to the so called stack and tilt!

He's trying to keep his head centered and his eyes level. Your head position and angle and eyes make a huge difference in the way you hit the ball.

What else did you see that tells you his swing looked similar to a S & T swing? A straight right knee on his backswing? A very flat swing plane? A very short backswing? Very flared feet?

 

Last I saw, He is still swinging like what Tiger is suppose to swing like and nowhere like Baddeley.

 

I think this S & T is getting to alot of ppl's head that its the answer to golf nirvana. Please, I think there is a more graceful and effective way to get the job done.

I tried it last week. Ugh. I found actually shortening the backswing will straighten out most issues.

Stack and tilt is a portion of what plummer and bennett teach, if you only knew some of the stuff they know it would be easier to understand

Tiger was definately more centered over the ball, but I don't think it is the S&T, I would call that a very athletic yet efficent move. I have wrote about this before, what Bennett and Plummer are teaching has some good ideas. If you look at the very best hitters in baseball there is very little movement laterally, they stay very centered and have very short swings. I think the best part of what Bennett and Plummer teach is to stay very centered and having a short athletic swing. (efficent) Now it is not the end all simply because not everyone is that athletic to pull it off. (Jason Gore-Mike Weir) All I am saying staying centered (not moving off the ball that much) and having a short compact swing is very athletic and very efficent.

Can you demonstrate with swing video evidence that Tiger has a more centered swing today than 1-10 years ago?

Which has nothing to do with S&T and everything to do with shortening your back swing.

A couple of things that I notice that look different to me.....

 

It looks like he as ditched the theory of keeping the same flex in the right leg during the backswing and conscieously trying to restrict hip turn (a theory very popular over the last decade). It appears to me he is straightening his right leg during the back swing and has more hip turn. Brandel Chamblee did analysis of Tiger last week on the GC and described him as more "stacked" for what it's worth. He seems to be trying to stay very centered and has a taller posture.
