Wedge loft adjustment?

It really depends on what clubs you have on whether or not they can be bent. I would look around see if you can find some information on other people having them adjusted.

Most likely they can be, most clubs can generally be bent + or - a degree or two without any problems.

And no if they are bent correctly and can take the adjustment they won't be affected at all after the bending.

The only change that might be interesting is the 48* to 50* bend. This will increase the bounce by 2 degrees, which may or may not be interesting to you.

The change from 54 to 55 is not going to be interesting.

Keeping in mind that the loft spec on clubs is generally +/- 1 degree anyway, if these are simply marked 48/54/60 and not measured at these actual lofts, they could be any combination of the below lofts today:

47,48,49/53,54,55/59,60,61

Virtually all irons can be adjusted for loft and lie - however any iron can also break when being adjusted; cast or forged makes no difference here either way.

  • 13 years later...

any super club building gurus(I'm an above avg. club builder-less than super lol )  know the max loft I can add to the Cleveland 900 tour action form forged wedge at a 52/6* bounce- I'm doing the one length thingy and in order to make my wedges longer and keep my 900's I  need to bend/add loft to a 52 (which has a head weight less than a 56/60) to the max loft I can add to it- hopefully at least to a 58*/ 13* thanks in advance.

My iron set has the following lofts:

24/27/30/33.5/37/41/45

My wedge set(cg-10) has:

48/54/60

Would it be difficult or make sense to have the wedges adjusted to 50/55/60?

I am quite happy w/ my current wedge set, & just curious. Would this adjustment effect them negatively?

Focus on carry gaps, NOT loft gaps, we adjust them to get Carry right, so never mind how it looks like on the paper. Since we very often change both head and shaft from irons to wedges, we cant take for granted that the loft gaps we see between irons would be the same from irons to wedge or between wedges, and irons is most often 0.5" in play length difference, while wedges is normally 0.25", so again, DONT focus on loft gaps, focus on carry gaps and you will know whats right or wrong here.

Absolutely bang on, my 50* is the same length as my pitching wedge which give me the gap i wanted, and my 54 is actually 53* to give me the right gap, which is obviously only 3* apart
