Personal Launch Monitor for wedges

I tried reading a bunch of reviews but found myself going in circles. What I am really looking for is something that will give me good carry distances for say 40 yards to 130 yards. I dont care too much about spin rates, height, etc. More just something to help me work on wedge game. initially was interested in the SC200 but seems what I am looking for is its biggest weakness?

My initial thought is that you won't find anything inexpensive that is going to be useful. Static Targets at known distances is your best bet and

the $$$ is right. Do you have a Range Finder ? Set Targets at the distances you want to practice at.

Yep got a couple rangefinders. Was looking for something on the range just to mainly practice 40-90 yards. Most ranges only have 100 yard markers and up around here.

If your adamant about getting a launch monitor, the SkyTrak will be your best cheapest option for accuracy. I had one for about 6 months and loved it esp for wedges. But I’ll second what others have said. Find a good range that has some good distances to practice on, or has a pitching area.

if its in your budget, you may want to look at a skytrak. it has a feature they call "wedge matrix" that is used just for dialing in your wedge distances, full shot, half shot, etc.

I had a chance to try a Mevo and decided to order one for myself, its was $450 after the WRX discount code.

 

I dont think its the perfect solution. Nothing at this pricepoint is going to be. But I watched a couple of great YouTube reviews that basically said the same thing, its within a percent or two of the big boys. Especially when used how I will be - indoors, with the metallic stickers on the ball.

 

I can say this though from personal experience - the SC200 is awful. Its a range toy. Its nothing more than that.

I just got an SC200 for free. Tested against laser rangefinder and Toptracer outside, next day Trackman 3 and 4 indoors, today GC2/HMT indoors. Absolutely spot on with full swings for the irons (limited flight Srixons and premium balls). Uses spin algorithms that seem like they match up with me (ex: low 6000's for 6 iron, low 7000's 7 iron etc)

 

That being said half wedges were not accurate unless it was just taking speed off your swing. Truncated swings, squeezy speedy swings were just all over the place.

 

Range finder outdoors, Skytrak indoors ... those are your choices currently.

Spin and launch angle are very important when working on wedge play. Skytrak is probably cheapest good solution. Using range balls and not premium (or whatever you game) will cause some issues as well.

Mevo can get both for less money

 

BUT - just the fact that you are hitting off many types of mats can alter those numbers - so the accuracy of the device is a moot point (and the numbers not very useful) unless you are hitting off of a surface that can duplicate the conditions hitting off of grass.
