Can I go pro?

I'm 8 years old, with a 9.3 handicap. I've been playing for almost 2 years now. I took 3-4 starter lessons when I began. After that, basically self-taught. I practice 4 days a week. I average around 82-83 on 18 holes.I play at the 4th hardest course in Northern California, The Bridges Golf Club. I play from the Gold tees, which are 5730 yards, Par 72. I like working hard. I'm going to start taking lessons seriously with a great coach at Bridges. You can see my clubs in my Signature thing, those are great clubs, I love them, plus, they are custom fitted to me. Oh yeah, I'm in pretty good shape, from playing other sports. I'm a tiny bit tall for my age, average weight. I hit my driver around 180-190, 200 if I really kill it. So distance is not an issue for me.

 

I play the JGANC (Junior Golf Association of Northern California). It's one of the best junior programs in the country. I've played in 13 tournaments this year so far, and I've actually won 12 of them. The only won that I didn't win was my first tournament, and I cam T-3.

 

I am willing to put in alot of time and effort in to this.

 

 

So, what do you think? Can I make the PGA Tour?

1) Yes, you could make the pga tour. Don't let anyone tell you you couldn't. Anyone out there will tell you that a thousand people told them that they weren't good enough (well, except tiger). If you want it bad enough, and you practice hard enough, you'll have your shot.

 

2) BUT it's a bit early for that, don't you think? Enjoy golf, play in high school, and go to collge. Enjoy your youth and party like crazy. The number one reason golfers in general quit or fail is because they start seeing golf as a means to get rich or famous or whatever, rather than enjoying the game.

 

So to sum up: Have fun with golf. It's the best game ever, and you'll get what you need out of the game if you let it give it to you.

I honestly think that the first post was not an eight year old's writing (which is a whole other topic) but if what you say is true and if you keep working hard, i'd say you have a good chance.

I've just never seen an 8 year old write so eloquently. "I like ice cream because it is good" is about as complex a sentence as I'd expect an 8 year old to write. "You can see my clubs in my Signature thing, those are great clubs, I love them, plus, they are custom fitted to me." is not what I'd expect from that age. Also all of the capitalization. If you are 8, I think you'd have a better shot at being an author or a professor because all the kids who were that good when I was around 10 ended up peaking at 12 and doing a lot of drugs in college.

First finding out if this person is a fake or telling the truth should not be that hard.

 

Someone contact the junior association he mentioned and ask if and eight year old won 12 of 13 events he entered this summer.

 

If that turns out to be true maybe he is owed and apology.

 

 

As far as can you make it as a pro? The most talented player I ever taught was a ten year old girl. She did not make it.

 

To many factors and its all too far away. Follow your dreams is all I can tell you and work hard.
