The Swing of a 12 HDCP

I don't see much of a weight shift at all there. Hopefully someone can recommend you some drills for that if it's an issue.

my very first impression is that your letting your left arm break down during the backswing. at the top, your hands are very close to your head. this is already a no-no, but from the top, instead of straightening the left arm to get the width needed to get down to the ball, your casting the club out away from you. keeping your hands farther from your head (by keeping the left arm straight) will put you in a much better position, from which you can hold your lag and release the club into the ball.

 

as for your turn, I think its not about your shoulders at all, but more about your hips. your shoulders are turning, but your hips are not. this is limiting how far you can take your backswing, which is forcing you to lift the club into place instead of allowing your rotation to move the club back into a good top position. this limiting of the backswing is definetly the cause of your reverse pivot. in fact, the only way to take the club past parralel without moving the hips is to break down the left arm and reverse pivot. these are habits you've developed to compensate for the lack of hip turn.

 

two thoughts to take to the range are to try pointing your left knee at the ball as you take your backswing. . .this will get those hips turning along with the shoulders, which are already turning quite nicely. the second thought is to try to keep the hands extended, away from the head. this is accomplished by keeping the arm straight, which is usually the thought I use for this purpose.

I agree with the breakdown of the left arm. I had this problem earlier in the summer. I worked day and night to shorten my backswing and keep my left arm straight. I was able to create more width , clubhead speed, and distance with less backswing. I also try to turn my left shoulder over my right knee. :russian_roulette:

The breakdown of the left arm is perfectly fine. The reason why it's breaking down is because you lack a backswing pivot. The arms 'break' because if there is no backswing pivot, the only way for the club to get into that top of the swing position is to break the left arm.

 

Just pivot better. When you backswing pivot better, learn to downswing pivot through better.

 

If you pivot better on the backswing and throughswing, and keep that #3 pressure point on the sweetspot,

 

1. You won't stand up at impact as you're doing.

 

2. You won't flip at the ball.

 

Remember to keep the pressure point #3 on the sweetspot.

 

Trace a straight plane line.

 

Flat left wrist.

Are you trying to keep your head 'still'? Looks like it to me. I reckon that causes a bit of reverse pivot. Let the head move naturally and don't purposely move it or keep it still, there's a middle ground there.

Your action looks pretty good to me but you could **** your wrists a bit more and maybe a bit earlier in the swing.
