Belly Putters

I was wondering if any juniors of here have experimented with a belly putter, and if so, what did you think of it? I am very tempted to try one out, but I am looking for a little input. Thanks, conorgolf

i played with a kid with one in a tournament and he drained every putt he looked at. so im curious too

All I say is just go to your local golf store and try one out if they have one there but all i can say is they are amazing with some people and some people there not

I really really wanted to use a belly putter but I just didnt like the way it feels and I cannot make a smooth stroke with it. Like the previous poster said, it works for some, not all.

Brian Harman, Webb Simpson, Kyle Reifers...a bunch of the top college players over the last several years have switched to the belly putter. Clearly these men are substantially better than you, so maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge...

It sure worked well for Colt Knost and Sergio Garcia, and I do believe they are both well under 50. Also, I couldn't believe how many Nationwide guys used the belly when I saw them a few weeks ago- a lot of demons out there I guess.

And what do all three of them also have in common??? the same belly putter. Ping Craze. We have them in our team club loacker room and i experimented with one... its amazing how solid it feels... ill stick with conventional but u do make so many putts from 20 ft and in. especially the par putts 6-12 ft.

I don't think its about demons anymore. People are starting to realize that at the elite level, everyone is so good that it becomes a putting contest. Whatever allows you to get the ball rolling on the intended line most consistantly, THATS what matters. Not the stigma typicaaly attached to "alternative putting methods", not what anyone else thinks, just what helps you put it in the jar. Period.

Sergio Garcia is a horrible putter, so he went to the belly putter. And he still missed THE putt on the 72nd hole.

 

I thought most people switch to the belly putter because of poor putting and the yips?

 

Anyhow, does anyone know if a major championship has been won by someone who used a belly putter or long putter? Not using one now, but used one when they won.

I was curious about a belly putters (41 inch) and found a couple of cheap ones on ebay.

 

Now one of the belly putters is in the bag and I like it.

no one under 50 should be allowed to use a belly putter unless they've got a pretty sizeable gut on them.

(by sizeable i mean as in that their gut physically interferes with a normal putting stroke.)

Golf is about the fewest strokes possible not how you make them. The typical responses as always.....

If it puts the ball in the hole then use it! I have seen many people both young and old get worked by guys with belly putters then wine about it at the club house post round.

 

For what it is worth I dont use one but I would switch if it lowered my scores.
