Outstanding place to learn, or get 9 holes in of real golf. They poured a ton of money into this place because it's New York City's home of "The First Tee" program, so it's well kept, they have a great chipping/putting practice area and the greens are in great shape. Brand new carts!

 

You can just show up at almost anytime, hardly any waiting (except on really nice weekend afternoons).

If you play on a weekday, you can play 3-4 balls because there will be nobody behind you.

It's a great course to walk, driving really isn't necessary, but if I play with my wife, I let her drive the cart, which is nice.

 

#1, 397 yards Par 4

Nice starting hole, dogleg left, a draw would be the perfect shot but anything on the left side is safe.

 

#2, 103 yards Par 3

Great view of the green from an elevated tee-box, you can hit off the tee ground (which is actually a pretty realistic grass-mat) or hit off grass to the right or left of the box. Greenside bunker on the right.

 

#3, 193 yards Par 3

Long Par 3, front bunker guarding the green. Right side is trouble. Carry the "Valley" and you're in good shape.

 

#4, 281 yards Par 4

A good, straight drive can leave you a short pitch shot for your second shot. Another "Valley" that's best to carry. Pretty wide open, left side could be trouble if you crush the tee-shot.

 

#5, 160 yards Par 3

My least favorite hole. Tee shot to an elevated uphill green, you must carry the "Valley" or you'll be left with a blind 2nd shot. Trouble/OB on the right, fence-line on the left.

 

#6, 398 yards Par 4

My most favorite hole! Dogleg right, sweeping downhill fairway to the green. Hit your drive straight or fade and you'll have a good look for your 2nd shot. I birdied this one the other day!

 

#7, 323 yards Par 4

Another straightforward layout, stay middle/left because the right side of the fairway features a bunker you need to avoid.

 

#8, 277 yards Par 4

Dogleg left, but stay center/right to avoid the woods on the left right before the green. Greenside bunker on the right, steep down-slope on the left.

 

#9, 180 yards Par 3

Nice finishing hole, HUGE green to work with, pin is usually in the front 1/2 of the green so don't be afraid to hit it, it's way better to be long here than short. Fence-line on the left (trouble), deep rough on the right, greenside bunkers on both sides of the putting surface.
