Forget about where you are ranked compared to others from your play today.. don't even pay attention to the other guys in the final group, their swings, their shots, and where they are in relation to you are not what you should focus on or even think about. The best advice you can receive for a situation like tomorrow is PLAY THE GOLF COURSE AND NOT YOUR COMPETITORS. If you try to maintain an "OK I've got 1 shot on him, 2 on him..." type mental tally you will not be able to play your best golf. It is very hard for all of us, even guys on tour, to do so but you must do your absolute best to STAY IN THE PRESENT. Instead of thinking about where you are in relation to the field or to par you need to think about the golf course. You need to stay aggressive, and attack the golf course the best way that your game can. Before every shot clear your mind, pick a target, focus on that target and hit the ball. Afterwards, realize what went wrong/right and then forget about it and focus on the next shot.

 

 

One of the most memorable stories I have ever heard was one in the Bob Rotella book "Golf is Not a Game of Perfect" where Faxon held the lead of a tournament not unlike you do now, and was struggling to stay in the present. While walking down the fairway and holding the lead he began to think about his acceptance speech after the round. Only bad shots followed. He was in control of his emotions enough to regain his focus and shoot 64 and win the tournament but it nevertheless demonstrates the importance of staying in the present.

Go out, play 1 shot at a time and be aggressive. If it helps, set a target score for every 3 holes and keep us posted on how you do :clapping:

not an amazingly difficult course but still a great job to be t-1 with Jerry......he went to Saints 2 years a go he hits the ball a LONG way!!!!!!haha

Update: I played decent today and I shot a 73. I had a couple bad breaks that hindered my round, along with 3 3-putts. I finished 2nd place for the tournament, which isn't bad for my 2nd top 10 in a row.

Yea, but I like my taylormades, and I am scared to try project x's in ping i3+ blades. I don't like any nikes, mizuno, nike, titleist, cleveland or anyother irons right now, except for some miura's. I just want to flatten my ball flight out. I hit th ball a mile high with all shafts I have ever had and i like that, I just hate how they balloon. X100's help a tiny bit, but I hit my rifle's straighter.

I talked to my coach today, and he agreed what I asked for was reasonable, because how I have been playing. I am nominated for Big West player of the month. I hope I win, but 2 other guys have wins, but played bad in their other tournaments.
