What is the best way to hit a hybrid?

I have two hybrids and I seem to hook them more often than not. This doesn't happen with my irons. I thought hybrids were supposed to be easier to hit and go straighter. Perhaps I'm just making a lousy swing?

most golfers play hybrids too far forward in there stance catching the ball on the upswing as the face is closing.

Very common fault every demo day i work at i see the majority of people doing it...

Play it in the middle of your stance and consider the amount of offset on each hybrid before buying!

Don't come out of your swing too early...this will cause you to top the ball.

Seems to be different advice here. One person says like an 8 iron, another says middle of stance. These comments are similar.

 

Yet the link to the mfg website says play them like a 5 iron, which is a couple inches forward of middle.

 

Might depend on whether your hybrid is more like an iron or more like a wood?

 

For me, I go slightly forwards of middle, more like a 5 iron, as the mfr website advises. This also gets the ball going higher. The strike is still slightly descending, with a small divot.

I was at the range today and played it in the middle of my stance and received much better results. In addition, I slowed down my transition, which helped as well.

I have a titleist 585h 19* with a stiff aldila nv. I have had many different hybrids because so many of them hook! The Titilest has been guilty numerous times of a hook, but not as bad as my ping/mizzy/callaway/etc. The best way I have found to swing the hybrid, is like a hybrid. There is no other club that resembles the short and heavy feel of a hybrid, thus not making it comparable to a swing you might put on a 5 iron. The only thing good about a hybrid, is when its good, it is DANG good. haha
