Graphite Shafts too Large?

First, I bought a Fujikura/Cobra Driver shaft from Diamond Tour Golf and the Cobra F8 Adapter. However, the shaft won't fit in the adapter and it is supposed to be .335. I haven't sanded down the tip yet, but not sure how much to go.

 

I also bought the same shafts, but for irons, to make a back-up set of Pings. They are .370, Parallel tip shafts, and I bought a .370 reamer. again, shafts will not fit into hosels after I reamed them all out.

 

Anyone have this trouble? My calipers are at my shop, but will get them soon. and measure. Tempted to square the end of a 3/8" drill bit off and ream the Ping irons again.

I'm going to follow this feed, havent had issues with a driver shaft not fitting in years. Of course i've had some fit snug and other that were loose but not to this extent. I take a razor blade and prep the tip, adaptor should fit. Keep me posted.

You didn't need to ream out those hosels. You can just sand down the tips a little more to make them measure out at .355. You did a lot of extra work.

As for the driver, is the tip painted or pre prepped? If it's painted then no surprise if it won't fit as is. I would also make sure the shaft is in fact .335. I know some of the stuff they sell on deep discount on that site are .350 tips.

Did you scrape the paint off the shaft tip?

That was it. Didn't think the paint was enough to keep it from fitting, but sure enough, it was. Driver adapter is epoxied in place. I'll do the irons tomorrow.

I guess I could have just sanded them, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'll build up the irons tomorrow assuming I have enough tip/butt weights to do the build. I have all the tip weights I think I need, but we'll see. I might need more for the 2 iron, or the swing weight will be really light. Anyone in Chicago area willing to sell some graphite shaft tip/butt weights? If not, I'll just order them after I cut and weigh, and find the balance point of the shafts.
